The smell of hot waffles coming up in the waffle iron and the citrusy scent of freshly squeezed orange juice wafted through the morning air.

The distinct clanging of pots and pans together with the whirring of the juicer had woken Summer up earlier.

She was usually woken to that sound most days.

After getting showered and prepped for school, her socked feet padded their way down the stairs for breakfast.

She made her way straight to the table in the kitchen area laden with breakfast goodies.

"Morning Tay." Summer greeted her older brother who was bent over the coffee machine brewing his daily dose of morning caffeine. He acted like her mum and dad all wrapped up as one being. She loved him so much. Her parents had busy work schedules and were usually not around.

"Yeah, you slept well?" he asked taking a sip of the cup of coffee he'd brewed.

"Mhm." Summer nodded stuffing a waffle into her mouth. She pushed it down with a swig of juice.

Her brother's eye fell to the remaining waffle on the plate.Summer grabbed it and stuffed it into her mouth, a victorious smirk on her face .She pushed in a spoonful of maple syrup to follow.

"You could just lather your waffle with syrup before gobbling it down your throat, you know?" Her brother suggested shaking his head.

Summer shrugged,"I prefer it this way, it's breakfast on the go."

Taylor, tall, twenty-one year old baseballer and drop dead gorgeous brunette with seductive lips stared up at his sister before shifting his attention to stacking the dishwasher.

Bless Taylor's kind heart for making breakfast seeing as their parents managed a chain of hotels and were almost too busy to stay at home.

Summer grabbed the jug of orange juice and emptied its contents into her juice bottle.

A sound of a car's tyres pulling up the driveway sent Taylor casting a look at Summer.

"It's my boyfriend. We're riding to school together." She explained picking up her book bag from the floor. She slung it across her shoulder in quick fashion.

Then, she progressed close to her brother,"Stay away!" He jokingly warned. Summer threw caution to the wind and placed a kiss on his cheek. He dramatically rubbed it off.

"Your lip gloss is all over my face now!" He complained.

"Thanks for breakfast." She appreciated it with a bright smile as he looked up at her in mild disgust.
You could see the beam in his eyes as he looked at her though.

"Thought Grayer wasn't keen on Jaguar's." Taylor opined watching the latest Jaguar F-pace car model roll to a stop in their driveway.

"It's not Grayer!" Summer clarified making a beeline towards the door. Her wispy curls held in it's usually ponytail bouncing behind her.

Taylor scratched his head looking at her. "I thought you two had something going on." He shrugged which made her roll her eyes.

"For the upteenth time Tay, Grayer and I don't roll that way. We're just best friends!" She explained pulling the door open.

"Yeah right, I know it's more than friendship when I see one." Taylor muttered going back to his dishes.

"Be back home before eight. We have a dinner date with Marsai tonight." Taylor called out as she closed the door behind her.

"Hope you got your assignments loaded in your binder, in your bag?" Taylor added.
Summer was usually frazzled most mornings and needed a friendly reminder once in a while in order to get her well equipped for school.
