When there's a thin line between steady and blur I  choose to jump it. My life's nothing but an unsolved maze.

Dawn broke and a new day sunk in.

Grayer searched for something in his locker, pausing momentarily to stare at the girl who stood beside him chattering animatedly.

"That reminds me, how'd your date at Asher's go last night?" He asked, pulling out his pen from pages of his English textbook.

Summer shrugged. "His family is great and dinner was lively."

"Good." Grayer curtly responded. He made his answer look like it didn't deem an answer so Summer left it to that.

He looked up at Summer, suddenly noticing a light patch on her neck. He instinctively reached out, using his thumb to rub the gentle wad of makeup off.

Summer tactfully reached out, smacking his hand from her neck.

"The fuck!" Grayer yelled, withdrawing his hand in pain.

The hickey Summer had tried to cover up was evident now.

Summer complained, "Now I've got to go cover it up again!"

She dropped her bag beside Grayer's feet, pulled out her makeup kit and made a mad dash to the washroom to sort it out.

Grayer stared after her, his emotions in turmoil. He thought that he'd be better off avoiding conversation about Summer's relationship, to avoid himself from facing reality.

Apparently Summer had love bites on her neck, reminding him of the  stinging proof. She'd been making out with Asher last night.

"Hey," A high pitched voice piped beside him, pulling his gaze from Summer's retreating figure.

Grayer ran his hands through his hair, blowing a little air out of  his mouth.

"Yeah, what's up Winter?"

"I just wanted to say thank you, for offering your jacket yesterday. It saved me from a wardrobe malfunction, I'm not gonna lie." She joked.

"I had it laundered, it mildly smells of me now." She breathed, handing it over to Grayer.

He smirked, a reading glint in his eyes. "Thank you, is that the best I can get?"

Winter's eyes lit up, she was fast to catch on. She knew when someone was flirting.

She took a few calculated steps towards Grayer.

"What can I do to appease you then?" Winter asked, playing with a button on Grayer's crisp white shirt. She kept her gaze focused on his chest, not daring to look into his striking blue eyes.

"You know what would really appease me?" Grayer teased, his eyes flickering to her glossed up lips.

"Tell me, I would love to be off service." Winter played along.

" Having your lips on mine again." He confessed, his breath fanning her ear.

Winter smiled. She grabbed his shirt collar and drew him close, planting her lips on his.

Her cropped school shirt rode up a little as she stood on her tippy toes to wound her hands around Grayer's neck.
He instinctively wrapped his hands around her lower back, his soft palms warm on her bare skin.

Her kissed her back harder, his lips willing hers apart as he pushed his tongue down her throat.

Winter slowly pulled away, their breaths haggard, pupils dilated.

Then, Summer clambered down the stairs from the washroom, catching sight of them together.

Something unfamiliar jabbed at her heart,as she watched them standing in each other's arms. She blinked a little to get accustomed to the sickening feeling of seeing them together.
