The students slowly filled into class, carrying in laughter and excited chatter. Lunch period was over and they settled in for the next lesson.
St. Williams stepped into class, and on noticing Asher gave him a nod. Asher nodded back, intently staring at the blog post, his heart shattering.
He'd read it numerous times but still couldn't lay his fingers on why Grayer would do him that dirty!
Chris walked in with Courtney in tow. He playfully nibbled at her ear , earning a playful swat on his chest. She stomped away with a half smile. Asher shook his head, why couldn't his relationship go as smooth as theirs.
Chris' eyes rested on Asher and he smiled, progressing close.
"Rough night, how're you holding up?" Chris greeted.
Asher shook his head, burying his gaze on his phone,"Not so well."
Chris wrinkled up an eyebrow,"What's up?"
"We broke up,Summer and I."Asher announced solemnly, his voice trailing at the end. It choked him saying it out loud.
Chris' eyes bulged out of their sockets,"Why would she do that?" He gasped.
Asher shook his head,"No,it was me."
"Dude!"Chris passed a hand over his face in utter disapproval."Why would you let her go? You still want her!" He chided.
"I just had too." Asher said quietly.
"She wasn't banging Grayer, was she?"Chris chipped in,his voice dropping low.
Asher shrugged," I don't know what to believe anymore. What I saw this morning, the chemistry between them,it felt real.It made the blog posts easier to believe." Asher confessed.
"I've got a lot on my plate right now and worrying about her just tips it off. I'm tired of burying my emotions and pretending I'm okay with whatever's going on between Grayer and her! It's suffocating." Asher ranted.
Chris patted his back," If I haven't learnt anything from my Catholic father, I've learnt to believe that it shall all be well."
"You'll be okay bro, trust me on that." Chris consoled, walking to his desk just as the teacher walked into the classroom.
The class quietened down, textbooks hit the tables, jotters were flipped open and the lesson began.
Minutes into the lesson,Mr Hoff paused mid speech, noticing the empty seat beside Asher.
"Where's your seatmate Mr Smith?" He asked, peering at him through his Harry Potter styled glasses.
There was silence in the classroom, all eyes zoomed in on Asher.Unable to get anything out,he shrugged. He didn't know where she was. Possible options she ditched but Asher wasn't ready to rat her out.
"She's not logged in absent, I'm hoping she didn't skip?" He stared sternly at him.
Grayer let out a cough,"She wasn't feeling well Mr Hoff."
He whipped his gaze to Grayer, raising a brow.
"She wasn't feeling so well, you know that time of the month..."
"She was supposed to sign out!" Mr Hoff interjected.
"My apologies sir,I was supposed to do that on her behalf,it slipped." Grayer cut him short.
He peered at Grayer through his glasses for a while, then adjusted it on the bridge of his nose.
"Get to it!" He instructed.
Grayer nodded, progressing out of the classroom, but not before shooting Asher a nasty glare. Asher stiffened in his seat,if Grayer laid hands on him it was game over.
