Summer picked through her salad, occasionally nibbling at some random veggie her fork pierced through.
A dark atmosphere hung around the table, Coutney and Chris whispered stuff to each other.
St. Williams sighed, lifting his gaze from his lunch tray and setting it on Winter. She had just taken her tray of food and was scanning the place for a seat. She whipped her gaze in his direction and they held eye contact for a while, before Jordan tugged at her that they should progress outside to eat, most probably.
St. Williams drummed his fingers nervously on the table, trying to play it off. He acted like he was okay but deep down it was bugging him.He was not good at hiding his emotions, and knew he'd eventually crack.
Guilt gnawed at him like Vecna's whispers from The Upside Down.It was against bro code to hit on his best friend's girl.He still couldn't come to terms as to why he truly kissed Winter though.
Summer gave a little cough, drawing his attention to her.
"Are you okay?" He asked, uncapping his bottle of water and passing it to her.
"Thanks." Summer said taking a sip.
"Where's Asher? I haven't seen him since last night." St.Williams noticed.
"Oh, he's having a half day today." Summer brushed it off, placing the bottle of water back on the table.
St.Williams nodded.
"How're you handling everything?" Chris enquired. Courtney kicked his foot from under the table.
Summer raised a brow." Handling everything? I'm okay,I guess." She shrugged.
"Cool, because I wouldn't be able to handle it if my babe was moving out of the country. Especially on such short notice." Chris blabbed.
The blood drained from Summer's face.
"Moving out of the country?" She repeated quietly.
"Yeah,I mean the long term reality TV show his Dad is supposed to film in Toronto. You don't expect them to still live here,do you?" Chris announced casually, popping a grape into his mouth.
Summer's mind whirled. Suddenly the parking boxes at his place last night made sense. It explained Asher's secrecy and outbursts. It suddenly was falling into place why he'd been drinking and acting distant.
"Mhm, yeah..." She replied distractedly, grabbing her phone and rising up. She needed time to sort herself out and not bawl her eyes out in front of her friends.
Why couldn't Asher tell her? Was she so self centered that she had not realized what was going on with him? She felt hurt and betrayed. It pierced through her heart as she tried to process everything.
She passed a hand through her hair.
"I just remembered I've got to go study for this history test I have after lunch..." She announced picking up her lunch tray. She emptied it in the trashcan right before she exited the cafeteria.
"Is she okay?" Chris whispered, watching her leave.
Courtney elbowed him,"Of course she's not! With that bombshell you dropped and that blog post!" She chastened her long mouthed boyfriend.
"Oh." He scratched his head sheepishly.
"What blog post?" St. Williams asked quietly. He'd left his phone somewhere at Chris' last night. They we're supposed to go look for it after school. So he hadn't been abreast of what was going on.
