St. Williams casually leaned against the wall outside the cafeteria, his gaze fixed on Winter. She had requested that they speak privately.
There he was, away from the bustle in the cafeteria, waiting for her to start talking.
"How's everything?" Winter asked, playing with the hem of her school skirt.
She seemed to have a lot to say which for some reason she could not voice out. She was usually good with words. But standing in front of an attractive six foot something basket baller who seemed to do nothing but intently stare at her with his soft brown orbs which was throwing her off balance.
St. Williams shrugged, "Good."
There was uneasy silence,Winter lowered her gaze. She couldn't bear to see the disappointment in St.Williams' face. It was her fault, she made the only person she had left question her credibility.
Winter let out a deep breath, deciding to hit the nail in the head. "We were paired together." She announced as if St. Williams didn't already know that.
"For the Hoodie Hunt?" He clarified, a brow raised.
Winter nodded in affirmation, running her thumb over her nails.
"I was wondering if maybe you had anything you'd want me to do." She threaded carefully.
St.Williams stared at her in disbelief. "Is that your attempt to get my hoodie?"
Winter casually shrugged it off. It only seemed to infuriate St. Williams further.
"Yes?" She deadpanned.
St. Williams scoffed."Well try being a nicer person Winter, I might consider giving it out!" With that, he stood up straight and marched back into the cafeteria. A part of his heart hoping she'd change for the better.
Winter watched him leave, her eyes filling with tears. For once, she felt a jab at her chest, the repercussions of her actions biting back at her.
"What was that about?" Chris asked looking up from his tray of food once St.Williams had settled back at the table.
"She was going on about the Hoodie Hunt."St.Williams brushed it off.
"She thinks you'd give it out that easy?"Grayer shook his head.
"Yup, that easy." St. Williams repeated, his tone laced with sarcasm.
The boys burst into gales of laughter. "They don't even know what they're up against. "
"Do we look that easy?" They bellowed.
Courtney shook her head, staring between them. They were something else.

It was two days before the championship game on Friday. All but a few cheerleaders were still hunting for their hoodie.
The school was charged with the fierce atmosphere of friendly competition.Rally flags and the game flyers floated in the hallway.
Summer chose to lock herself away from the buzz, sharing a tub of pudding with St.Williams as they waited for the rest of the class to come back from recess.
Their phones pinged with new messages and they stared up at each other on having scanned through it.They had just received invites to Asher's going away party that weekend.
"You going?" St.Williams asked Summer, scooping a spoonful of pudding into his mouth.
Summer paused for a while, spoon in hand," I'll think about it."
