Hands tried holding her back from getting into the court but Summer had always been incorrigible. She shrugged the hands off, then dashed into the court.

The crowd seemed to part like the Red Sea,giving her way to pass through. She hurriedly made her way over, sinking to the ground beside Grayer's body.

His eyes were squeezed shut, dwelling in silent agony. He lay on the floor writhing in pain.Summer's heart ached, seeing him laying helpless on the floor.

"Everyone, move away! Give him space!" Coach Riley yelled, trying to disperse the crowd gathered around Grayer.

"He needs as much fresh air as he can get!You hovering around is not helping!" He added.

"She's his girlfriend." Someone called out, rooting for Summer to stay.

Her hands trembled as she supported Grayer's head on her laps. She gently slapped his face to keep him awake.
"Grayer, stay with me. Please."She muttered, her voice wavering off with fear.Tears pooled in her eyes.

Then, the paramedics came, lifting Grayer into a gurney and urged her to come with them  into the awaiting ambulance outside.

She held his hand throughout the ride to the hospital as the paramedics attended to him.Grayer was almost unresponsive, apart from the faint trace of a smile which tugged at his lips when his eyes seemed to flutter open and notice Summer with him.

Summer filled in some paperwork and Grayer was rushed to the emergency unit when they arrived at the hospital.

She sat in the waiting room, passing her hands through her hair, thinking about how miserable her life would be if Grayer wasn't in it.She prayed he'd get better.

An hour and a half later,a nice nurse with a pretty smile walked up to her.

"Summer?" She asked.

Summer shot up from the chair she was rested on,her eyes wide with urgency. She badly wanted to hear that Grayer was okay.

"I'm glad to announce that your boyfriend is out of the emergency unit. You were the first person he requested to see when he woke up.He wishes to speak to you right now. Can you follow me,this way." She said politely with a bow.

Relief flooded across Summer's features. She nodded excitedly, not bothering to correct the nurse that they were just friends. Regardless, she seemed to like being referred to as Grayer's girlfriend for some odd reason.

She followed meekly behind the nurse to Grayer's ward.It was a nice little room with pale blue curtains and white walls. The bed was at one side of the room,a drip hanging from beside it onto Grayer's hand. The place smelled of antiseptic and drugs.

She rushed to Grayer's side. He was covered in sheets and his face was pale. His knee was in a cast and the few bruises he had on his body were disinfected.

The nurse excused them and stepped out of the room. Summer sank to the chair beside his bedside, peering over him.

"How're you feeling?" She asked once his eyes had fluttered open.

"Better than how I felt when I was brought in here, that I can testify." He joked, putting on a brave smile for her. She could see he was in a lot of pain.Tears pooled in her eyes.

"Did we win?" He asked groaned, shifting a little to a more comfortable position,on his back.

"Yeah," Summer nodded, tears streaming down her face. She was excited that Grayer was out of imminent danger and at the same time upset he was trying to act okay when he obviously was not.
