Grayer's iPhone pinged with a new message.

He scanned across his little sister's text, a grin appeared on his face.

Can't wait to see Winter after school!

Wear something nice!

Kennedy had been begging ages to have an after school date with Winter. They'd finally settled on today.

"She's really excited about her little outing with Barbie, isn't she?" Summer shrugged from her position beside Grayer on her living room couch. They were prepping for an e-game rematch sometime that weekend.

They'd taken a briefer and Summer was scrolling through her Twitter feed. She had seen Kennedy make a tweet about her meeting with Winter later on today.

Winter had instantly tweeted back a reply.

"Yup, they're becoming quick friends." Grayer laughed it off.

"Right." Summer nodded.

"You sure you're not using this as an excuse to get alone time with Winter?" Summer added.

Grayer raised a brow. "You know I don't fuck with her that hard."

Summer shrugged, "You wouldn't have said that two days ago when you had your tongue down her throat."

Grayer bit his lower lip, Summer did see them making out.

It stirred something unfamiliar in him knowing she'd said it ever so casually. Almost like she couldn't be arsed. For a while, Grayer was stuck on what to say.

"She's tryna get in your good books through Kennedy. Don't care what you two do but let her stay off my lane." Summer added pressing the remote control, the characters on the TV screen zoomed back to life.

"Sure." Grayer nodded, picking Summer's feet off from where it rested on his lap.

"I've got to get going, to beat traffic. I wouldn't want to keep Kennedy waiting after her karate class." He announced groggily.

Summer looked up at him, her mouth in an 'O'

"We haven't even started the rematch," Summer pouted.

"We'll finish up some other time." Grayer dismissed, grabbing his car keys from the center table.

"I'll see you around." He solemnly announced making for the door.

Summer stared at his retreating figure, then shrugged. As far as she was concerned, Grayer would do well and respect her boundaries.

An hour later, an ecstatic Kennedy dragged Grayer by his hand leading them into the newly opened ice cream shop at the end of town.

Winter was seated at the far end of the shop, her shades were perched atop her head, her face glowed with the light falling from her phone in the neon-lit room.

She looked up on noticing some figures approach. The corners of her lips turned up into a smile.

She stood up, placing her iPhone on the table. Kennedy rushed towards her to engulf her in a hug.

Winter looked pretty in a white halter neck and a blue skirt which flapped on her thighs. She wound a matching blue cardigan around her shoulders to elevate her style.
