Summer fumbled her way out of the library, her feet moved as she mindlessly followed. She broke into a sprint once her feet hit the stairs, they made thuds on the wooden floor boards.
She had no idea where she was running to and kept her gaze fixated to the floor. She couldn't bear to look anyone in the eye. She was not ready to face the repercussions of what had happened between Grayer and her.
Her mind was in turmoil and she tried unsuccessfully to keep it from riding over her emotions. She was almost out of the house when she collided head first into a wet stone hard frame.
The sound of familiar laughter and lean arms enveloped her. She looked up to meet Asher gazing at her,his clothes dripped wet and his breath reeked of alcohol.
"Babe, watch where you're going!" Asher chastened, scrunching up his face. He staggered back a little, maintaining his grip on his girlfriend. He looked like a mess, with bloodshot eyes and matted hair.
He leaned in for a kiss in his drunken stupor. Summer placed her hands on his chest,to stop him.
"Asher, you're drunk. What's going on ?" She enquired feeling him up. He didn't have a fever, thankfully. Something was eating Asher up to make him land himself into a drinking fit. He never got drunk.
"Let's get you home. Where's your phone and keys?" Summer asked her boyfriend who stood twirling strands of her hair in his fingers.
"Kitchen, I went to grab juice." He droned. Summer led him to the kitchen and fished out his belongings from the sink. She wasn't in the right state of mind to drive and Asher was way wasted so she ordered an Uber. It was a few minutes away and she used that time to haul him out onto the curb.
Just then, the Uber arrived and she pushed Asher's bulk frame into the back seat, then followed, settling beside him.
It was going to be a long night.

St. Williams drew room doors open searching for Winter. He was getting quite worried about her. Winter was flawed, yes. But she was a good kid needing love and attention.
St. Williams never blamed her, looking at her family life and his, he knew what it felt like to have parents put their work and themselves before you. A part of his heart reached out to her, understanding how she felt.
It was messed up that Grayer, the one person she adored and looked up to,wasn't giving her the love she deserved. He was not blaming Grayer either,he had basically shoved Winter into his arms when he had demons of his own to battle with.
Truth was, St. Williams was afraid of having deeper connections with people. He was scared to get attached because he was afraid of how letting go hurt. He felt a lot and chose to lock it all away. He didn't want his emotions getting in the way of  him finishing high school and pursuing his basketball career.
Girls could be destructions. Especially the pretty 5'6  blondes with  petite frames, perfect hair and style. They had the constant need to retouch their makeup which drove him nuts because he was pretty sure they  looked ravishing without.
He made his way down the stairs, then wandered  outside, hoping to find Winter and ascertain she was okay.He was mindlessly going after her, unintentionally breaking his own no strings attached principle.
