Summer pulled out her chem textbook from her locker. She had a test on Wednesday and really needed to cram everything up before then.

She should have studied over the weekend but her boyfriend had other plans. They'd attended a concert out of town and went to the movies the next day.

A blush crept up her cheeks, remembering her alone time with Asher--feet tangled together, bodies unbearably close, some alone time in an almost empty dark cinema.

The night had been passionate and the movie was totally worth it. Being with Asher was amazing.

Pink coloring lit up her cheeks as she stuffed the book under her arm.

Approaching footsteps made her turn sharply just in time to see Grayer walk towards her.

Summer stared at him in contempt. Her eyes emitted nothing but unresolved conflict.

"Take a step closer and I swear I'll hurt you!" She warned noticing Grayer was close to talking distance.

"Stop being stubborn Summer! You can't let that get between us." Grayer lamented.

"You should have thought about that when you let that dumbass on my seat and allowed her to spew garbage to my face!" Summer shot back, her eyes dangerously flaring.

Heat lit up her cheeks and her hair flew dangerously out of place from the loose ponytail she kept it in.

For some reason Grayer found her fiercely attractive then.

He shook his head, dismissing the thought as it came.

"Winter is going through serious shit back at home!" Grayer tried explaining.

"Yeah, right! Grayer Miller is her fucking therapist!" Summer shot back, her voice laced with sarcasm.

"I let this slide last week. She better not be sitting there today!" Summer said barging past Grayer.

He bowed down his head, trying to understand why he'd spent more time watching her as she spoke than actually listening.

Might he admit, he missed his best friend sitting beside him and no amount of pity he could give to Winter made him want to continue sitting with her.

He was used to Summer's presence and she not being around him made him irritable for some reason. It was like Summer was his daily dose of caffeine and without her he was left wanting.

He let out a sigh, shoving his hands down his trouser pocket and made his way to Winter's locker.

She stood touching up her make-up watching herself from her phone screen. Her camera was turned on selfie mode.

Grayer leaned against the locker next to hers, immediately gaining her attention.

"Hey, nice morning isn't it?" Winter smiled puckering her lips and adding a layer of lipgloss to her already glossed up lips.

She smacked her lips together, for God knows why girls do that and smiled up at him.

"Yeah, yeah." Grayer responded distractedly.

"Summer's moving back to her seat today. You can sit with Courtney or probably someone else from the cheer squad." Grayer announced simply.

The last thing he wanted was for Summer to go bananas on him too.

"But I really enjoy sitting with you." She pouted twirling a strand of her hair.

Grayer scratched his head, it was not the same for him.

"You're getting on Summer's nerves and hosting you fuels her against me.I don't like it when she's mad at me." Grayer confessed.

"She should just grow up!" Winter rolled her eyes
