Summer brushed invisible particles from the oversized T-shirt she wore as a dress, waiting for Asher to get their tickets approved for Festcon.
There were three people before Asher to the booth. The line was moving fast, Summer was sure they would get their tickets stamped soon.
The bustle around her drew her attention from Asher to her surroundings.
She watched the e-game fanatics dash about with their colorful jerseys, caps and foam fingers.
Summer spotted a familiar looking blonde with a cap and cami top. Her breath hitched as she placed it to Winter's face.
"What was Winter doing here?" Summer wondered.
She watched Winter search for something in the pocket of her denim shorts before offering it to her companion, Grayer. Then it all suddenly made sense. Grayer had offered her his spare ticket. The one meant for her.
So what now?
Grayer was trying to use Winter as her replacement?
Summer scoffed, crossing her arms defiantly across her chest and squinting her eyes at them to see better.
Grayer received whatever it was that Winter offered and popped it in his mouth. It was probably some gum or mints,Summer rolled her eyes.
Winter looked up at Grayer with lovesick puppy eyes as Summer shook her head. Sometimes her best friend was just clueless.
"Earth to Summer!" A voice droned from beside her.
Summer turned her attention to Asher who stood waving their stamped tickets at her face.
"Oh, I'm here." Summer channeled her energy back to Asher.
"Great! What got you engaged? " Asher enquired, scanning through the crowd too.He was hoping to catch sight of what his girlfriend was immersed in watching.
"Nothing, just random people."Summer waved it off.
"You got the tickets, great! Let's step in." Summer announced taking Asher's hand in hers.
The arcade was lit with neon lights and bustled with the soft purr of computers and game stands. They made their way to the physical games section where they'd try out bowling.
All the years Summer had come with Grayer, bowling was their starting point to build up more points for an e-game.
So it wasn't that much of a surprise when she found Grayer and Winter's name on the sign up sheet already.
Asher helped her with her bowling shoes and she looked up, catching Winter's laughter in the air.
Grayer held on to her waist to support her as she made their first pin and got them all at once.
"Whoa." Grayer whistled, impressed.
Winter giggled, giving Grayer a courtesy.
Summer turned her head away, rising up as Asher held onto her hand to hoist her up.
"Thanks." Summer smiled, walking to the rack of bowling balls and selected a shiny black one.
"Here you go." She handed it over to Asher.
"You get the privilege of having the first shot." Summer smiled at him.
Asher awkwardly received the ball in his hands.
He drew closer to the alley and set the ball rolling.
They watched the ball immediately roll off course.
