MegaCon rolls around pretty quickly, and before she knows it, Lani's on a plane on her way to see her friends again.

She's excited—of course she is. It's been weeks since she last saw them, and even though they talk every day, it's not the same.

But beneath the excitement, there's a hint of something else. A little nervousness, maybe? She isn't sure why.

It's not like she hasn't done this before.

Not like she hasn't been in Dream's arms, laughing at Sapnap's dumb jokes, or watching George pretend he's above all of it when he's just as bad as them.

Not like she hasn't spent nights tangled up in whispered conversations with Dream, feeling like the whole world exists only in the spaces between them.

So why does this feel different?

She's probably overthinking it. Yeah, that's it. She's just overthinking things.

The flight feels longer than it actually is, but that's probably just because Lani can't sit still. Her leg bounces slightly as she stares out the window, the clouds rolling by beneath her.

Aside from being anxious for some unexplainable reason, she's excited. She really is. She's excited to be with her friends again.

Dream had been the most annoying about it. "Two more days," "You better not flake on me," "I swear if you don't run into my arms at the airport, I'm turning around and leaving you there."

She wondered if Dream would keep his bet or if he'd cave the second he saw her.

She had a feeling she knew the answer.

Lani was bored when the flight attendant's voice crackled over the intercom, stating that they would arrive in 45 minutes.  For her, looking out the window for 45 minutes was like watching paint dry.  So she made the decision to take a nap prior to the landing.

Lani adjusted in her seat, tucking her arms into her hoodie as she leaned against the window. She closed her eyes, hoping the hum of the plane and the slight turbulence would lull her to sleep.

It wasn't the best nap, more like dozing in and out of consciousness, but it helped pass the time. Before she knew it, the flight attendant's voice crackled through the speaker again, announcing their descent.

She blinked sleepily, stretching her arms as she peered out the window. The ant-sized buildings were getting bigger.

She sits up properly, rubbing the last remnants of sleep off her eyes.

Lani let out a small yawn, blinking a few times to fully wake herself up. The plane had already begun its descent, and she could feel the slight pressure change in her ears.

Florida is hot.

Just a little bit hotter than she remembered, that's the first thing Lani notices when she lands.
