Time moved fast, but with him, it never felt long enough.
One whole year. A year of late-night calls, sweet nothings, surprise visits, and an overwhelming kind of love that neither of them had ever quite known before.
Lani found it hard to believe sometimes—how something that started off as something turned into everything. And now, here they were, days away from a milestone that felt both surreal and inevitable.
Crazy, isn't it?
Dream had booked a ticket to New York to stay with her for a while. It was exciting, really exciting.
But Lani was stressing over his gifts. She knew she should've planned earlier, but she'd spent too much time overthinking what to get him.
Dream wasn't exactly hard to please, but that only made it harder. Sshe wanted to give back to him, to make him feel as special as he always made her feel.
Dream wasn't big on gifts—at least, not in the way most people were. He never asked for much, never dropped hints about things he wanted. If anything, he seemed happier just giving rather than receiving.
But she wanted to do something for him. She had to do something for him.
So, after overthinking for way too long, she settled on jerseys from his favorite football teams, a collection of his favorite snacks, and little things that reminded her of him. It wasn't much, but she knew he'd appreciate it.
But aside from the jerseys and snacks, she had something much bigger planned—an entire EP filled with songs just for him.
She was going to release it on their anniversary, a surprise he had no clue about. To keep it that way, she went the extra mile, blocking all of his accounts on Twitter (even his lurker ones) and setting her profile to private, just to make sure nothing slipped onto his timeline.
