JULY 19 .
There were seldom days when both Dream and Lani weren't busy, but luckily, this week was one of them.
One evening during a call, Lani mentioned how her family had been in the Philippines for the summer. They'd already been there for a week, but with her busy schedule, she couldn't join them. Now that she had some free time, she told them she'd be going, and why not bring her boyfriend along? Her family knew about him, but they'd never met him personally.
She figured if they went, her family would likely visit other relatives too. It felt like the perfect opportunity to introduce Dream to everyone.
Without hesitation, Dream agreed. He wanted to go. He'd never been to the Philippines before, and he was excited about the idea of experiencing it with her.
Before they knew it, tickets were booked, bags were packed, and they were boarding a flight together. They had prepared themselves, knowing it'd be a long trip including layovers, but it would be worth it.
Dream couldn't stop asking her questions about what to expect. "How hot are we talking? Like Florida hot or worse?"
Lani laughed, leaning against his shoulder as they waited to book board. "I can't really tell you, if I remember it's kinda like Florida heat but, like, a little less intense. But it's worth it. The beaches are incredible, the food's amazing, and my family's great. They'll love you. Probably too much."
He raised a brow, smirking. "Too much, huh? Should I be worried about them stealing me from you?"
She rolled her eyes but smiled. "Trust me, you're stuck with me."
After hours of travel, they finally arrived in Manila. Dream was wide-eyed, taking in every detail around them, while Lani, tired and annoyed, was already dreading the fact that they still had another ride ahead to reach the house where her parents were staying.
"So, should we get Uber or something?" Dream asked as the two walked out of the airport.
"No, we don't have Uber here. But we've got something similar." Lani smiled tiredly, taking her phone out.
Dream raised a brow, intrigued. "What's it called?"
"Grab," she replied, tapping away on her phone. "It's basically our version of Uber, but it works for everything, cars, food, you name it."
He hummed in interest, watching her navigate the app. "Huh. Grab sounds cooler. Way more direct."
"Sure," she said with a chuckle. "But I'm not in the mood to argue about app names. I just want to get to the house and crash."
Dream glanced at her and smiled softly. "You need a nap, don't you?"
"Desperately," she sighed. "But once we're there, it'll be worth it. My mom's probably already cooking something."
