SEPTEMBER 18 .
It had been some time now, and the constant traveling back and forth of plane rides just to see one another was exhausting. Dream's sleep schedule without traveling alone could send a doctor into a coma, just imagine how bad it is with it.
So, two months prior, he bought a house for Lani no more than a 15 minute drive away from their house. But Lani doesn't know that.
Dream had been sitting on this secret for weeks now, waiting for the perfect moment to tell her. He wanted to see the look on her face when she found out—wanted to see her reaction when she realized she wouldn't have to keep hopping on long flights just to be with him.
It wasn't just about convenience. It was about having her close. About waking up and knowing she was just a short drive away instead of hundreds of miles.
So, when Lani arrived at his place after another exhausting flight, bags in hand and grumbling about how she was "so sick of airports", Dream decided it was time.
"You should freshen up first," he told her, grabbing one of her bags before she could protest.
Lani side-eyed him. "Why are you being suspiciously helpful?"
He just grinned. "Because I'm a great boyfriend, obviously."
"Uh-huh," she said, clearly not buying it but too tired to argue.
Once she was settled, he grabbed his car keys. "Come on. I wanna show you something."
"Dream, I just got here. Can't this wait?" She groaned.
"Nope."
She narrowed her eyes but relented, following him to the car.
As they pulled into a quiet, nearly empty neighborhood, Lani sat up straighter. "Where are we?"
Dream pulled into the driveway of a two-story house. "Your house. Our house."
She blinked. "What?"
He turned off the engine, watching her reaction. "I bought it for you. Two months ago. It's yours."
Lani stared at him like he'd lost his mind. "You bought me a house?"
"Yes."
"A whole house?"
"Yes."
"Dream-"
"I got tired of the distance," he admitted, finally serious. "I know traveling back and forth is exhausting, and I don't want you to feel like you always have to. So now you don't. You have a place here. A place that's yours."
Lani was silent for a long moment, looking at the house, then back at him. Then, to his surprise, she smacked his arm.
