[ENDING]: HITOSHI SHINSO

Shinso was setting up the living room for his and (Y/n)'s schedule movie night when he heard the door open.

After school they decided to rent a condo to save on money and because... Fuck it. Who doesn't want to room with their best friend?

Shinso walked over to the front door and saw (Y/n) crouched down cooing at their cats, Mustard and Mayo. They were kittens that were born to Ketchup, Carrot's cat, thus the condiment names based on their fur colors.

When Carrot called and told them about the kittens and finding homes for them Shinso and (Y/n) immediately volunteered to adopt one... and then one turned into two. And to be honest, they would've taken the whole entire litter if it wasn't because there were people already taking in the other four.

"Okaeri..." Shinso greeted.

"Oh! Tadaima! ... Right?" (Y/n) asked looking up.

"Yes. How was work?" Shinso asked.

(Y/n) stood up scooping up both of the kittens, "Same old, same old. Some promising students, so that's good."

Shinso walked over, taking one of the kittens from (Y/n)'s grasp, "Carrot called." He said walking towards the living room.

"Really? What'd he say?" (Y/n) asked, following behind.

"He's coming over for a visit and asked if we could house them." Shinso said, sitting down.

"For real?! Hell yeah, dude! I'm so excited to meet their new baby! I'm an untie! (Y/n) cheered sitting down also.

"This is like the fifth child they've fostered." Shinso rolled his eyes with a smile.

"Fair, but it is their first baby. A real life baby!" (Y/n) said, their eyes shining.

"You act like you've never seen a baby before." Shinso teased.

(Y/n) sighed slumping against the couch, "Why are we still single, Shin?"

Shinso's eyebrows furrowed, "That's a hard turn."

"Are we ugly?" (Y/n) asked.

"I'm not at least." Shinso joked.

"Mean~" (Y/n) whined.

Shinso sighed and leaned back as the cats played together on the floor, "I feel like I don't really need one?"

"Eh?" (Y/n) questioned.

"I mean... You're here—" Shinso cut himself off.

(Y/n) froze.

"That came out weird— Hold on! What I meant is—" Shinso fakes coughs "to clear his throat", "What I meant is, well, we live together, we split chores, hang out in and out of work, have cats together... so I guess... I don't need another person to do all that stuff with as long as you're around?"

(Y/n) hums in acknowledgement.

Silence enveloped the living room.

"Hey, Nekoshi?" (Y/n) asked.

"Hm?" Shinso replied.

"You wanna date?" (Y/n) asked.

Silence.

"Eh. Sure. Why not." Shinso said.

Silence.

"So.... Now what?" Shinso asked.

"....You wanna make out?" (Y/n) asked jokingly.

Shinso burst out laughing, "NO?!"

(Y/n) joined in laughing, "Dude, literally what changed between us other than what goes in front of the word friend?"

"Honestly, I feel a bit insulted. It went from best to boy. Bitch, what am I? A roach?" Shinso joked.

(Y/n) wiped a fake tear off their eye, "Quoting vines? I'm so proud~"

"Anyway, what movie did you pick?" Shinso asked.

"Malignant! 'Yami said it's a wild ride!" (Y/n) said taking the remote.

[A/n]: You those relationships that just kinda naturally transition into something more? That's what happened here bc I didn't want Shinso and (Y/n)'s friendship to be a mess with feelings during highschool.

Don't ask me why, it just didn't feel like either of them. Maybe it would if they weren't best friends, but idk :/
