The next day Brittany was in the library, trying to find information about monsters. It would be good to know what this monster was. So far, she hadn't found anything.
"Well, it's not in here."
She said as she put a book back on the shelf.
"Or here. Or here. Or here."
She sighed. She was just about to grab a promising one when a voice was heard behind her.
"Oh my gosh. Brittany Potter has a book."
She turned around.
"An actual book."
George continued Fred's sentence.
"Yes I do. I'm trying to find out what this monster is."
She said and grabbed the book off the shelf.
"This one seems promising. "Mythical and Magical Snakes in Legend. Slytherin's mascot is a snake, after all."
Fred rolled his eyes.
"Why don't you just draw one?"
Brittany scowled.
"My last pencil broke. I can't draw properly for the rest of the year."
George looked confused.
"Pencils?"
Brittany sighed.
"Wizards. It's a writing device muggles use, that has a stick of lead inside a wooden frame. The lead can be erased, unlike ink, and the wood can be sharpened so you don't have to continue to dip your quill."
"We know what a pencil is, what do you think our dad does? Besides, wizards use them sometimes as well."
Fred pointed out.
"I was just wondering why you can't draw with ink."
George said.
"Ink smears, my hand writing with it is horrid, and I prefer lead."
George nodded.
"Well, in the wizarding world, we commonly use ink and quills on parchment."
Brittany frowned sadly.
"I guess my muggle paper and pencils will just have to sit in the bottom of my bag while I attempt to pay attention to lessons."
The three of them were soon laughing, Brittany's promising library book put back and forgotten.
