Brittany yawned and woke up. She felt absolutely dreadful. There was a nasty flu going around, and anyone who had it had to go to Madam Pomfrey and and take a pepper up potion. When Ginny Weasley had it she looked as if she was on fire. Brittany did not particularly want that experience. It was friday, and she just had to make it through one more day.
"I'll be fine."
She told Hermione at breakfast when she pointed out that she looked sick.
"Anyway, if it gets too bad, I'll always skip potions."

The dungeons were really cold and damp. As Snape flicked the board and the instructions for the first part of a simple swelling solution appeared. Apparently they were starting a long term project. She looked at the board. And to her cauldron. And back to the board.
"Ha. Nope, failing this."
She got the ingredients and added them carefully and correctly. She noticed her fire had gone out so she prodded it with her wand. A large cloud of smoke puffed out and covered her. She poked it again. Only a minor explosion. No one else was hurt but she was stuck in a cloud of smoke, coughing.
"Oh now what have you done Ms. Potter."
Snape said obviously annoyed. He walked over to her cauldron. The blue color was pretty much perfect.
"It's the right color and ten minutes early!"
Hermione gasped.
"Thank you Ms. Granger for stating the obvious. Ms. Potter you should go up to the hospital wing, just het out of this class, that coughing is highly distracting."
Brittany continued coughing and headed for the door, the smoke cloud following her. As she walked to the hospital wing, she didn't run into any ghosts or students, even when the bell rang. Hmm. She entered and the cloud continued to float above her.
"What now Ms. Potter?"
Madam Pomfrey hurried out of her office.
"Ah, no worry, your mother did the same thing in her second year. Swelling Solution?"
Brittany nodded.
"Here, pepper up should do it."
Brittany coughed and drank the peppery potion. She felt steam roll out of her ears.
"Now, that cloud won't be gone for a few days, you'd better stay here for the next period while I try and find a way to get it to decrease faster, we are more magically advanced then when your mother blew up her cauldron. Got the potion perfect, though."
Brittany nodded and sat down. She looked like she was on fire. Steam, smoke, and red flames very flyaway from the explosion. Perfect....
