Nadine couldn't really sleep. It was a cold night and the rain was pouring hard but she wasn't even a bit sleepy. She was just a little bit bothered that James had left the venue without even saying goodbye to her. Of course she knew what the reason must be for his actions. He wasn't really subtle with all the glaring he was giving Kean, but she thought it was already okay when he'd stood besides her and even wrap an arm around her waist. She thought that was the end of the issue. But after she'd changed, she was told by Yassi that James had already left with Sam.
Nadine sighed. She wasn't used to a cold James. The public seems to look at him like some aloof, brooding and cold person, but he absolutely isn't. He's the complete episode. He's very warm, and very sweet and very thoughtful. He's her security blanket. And she wasn't used to going to bed without receiving a call from him telling her a simple good night.
Nadine sighed once more, wishing for sleep to just come and take her and stop her whirling mind. It was already late and she knew she was the only one left awake in the house. It was so quiet that Nadine almost jumped when she heard her phone rang. Hastily, she took her phone from her bedside table. She had mixed feelings when she saw that it was James calling her. Is he still mad?
Trying not to think to much, she answered her phone.
"Hel--"
"Open the door." James said from the other line, cutting her off.
"Huh?" Nadine could only say, feeling confused.
"Open your front door."
"James, are you..?" Nadine just then heard the splash of water from the phone.
Feeling confused and worried at the same time, Nadine had jumped from her bed and dashed to their front door, immediately opening it.
"Jam-" She started to say but then James stepped forward and kissed her.
Nadine barely registered what was happening. It was a very forceful kiss, different than any kiss they had shared before. And everything had seemed to disappear. It was just her and James and his lips on hers.
It was when Nadine felt the wall on her back that she had broke from the trance. She hadn't even realized he had pushed her to the wall. But finally getting a hold of herself, Nadine gently push James away. He broke the kiss, but his hands stayed firmly placed on the sides of Nadine, pinning her to the wall.
"James..?" She called, feeling a little overwhelmed.
James starred at her for a while, his eyes seemed to be looking into her soul.
He broke his gaze and sigh.
"Sorry. I..."
"You're soaked!" Nadine gasped. "What happened?" She asked. She realized he was still wearing his outfit from his performance.
"I... I didn't really think, I guess. I just wanted to see you."
"Wait, I'll go get a towel." Nadine said as she dashed up to her bedroom.
She also took a detour to her brother's room and took one of her brother's shirt and shorts.
Nadine came back and saw James uncomfortably sitting on their sofa.
She gave her one of the towels and helped him dry up.
"What have you been doing to yourself?" Nadine asked with a sighed as she towel dry James' hair.
James looked at her. She didn't know why but that expression on his face... he looks very serious, but she could only regard that expression as a pout.
"What?" She asked, now smiling a little.
"Earlier..." He said.
"Mm?" Nadine urged.
"You know what." He finally said, looking away and frowning.
"Do I?" Nadine asked.
"I was pissed, okay? I don't like seeing you with other men." He said. And now he was definitely pouting.
Nadine sighed in amusement. "James, you know it's only for work. And it wasn't like we did something wrong. Kean was just being a gentleman, being a Kuya to me." She said.
James' face was serious.
"I know..." He sighed and then he wrapped his arm around Nadine. "I know it's just work. And I know it was only for tonight... But I still hate seeing you like that with other guys..." He said.
Nadine returned James' hug. She didn't really care if her pajamas got wet in the process, too.
"Sorry..." She said. James shook his head. He knew it wasn't her fault. She was only doing her work and it was just him being all jealous.
"I guess I just needed to see you tonight..."
Nadine smiled at him and kissed him on his nose.
"Yeah. I needed to see you tonight as well. Why did you just left like that? You didn't call or even just text me. I was worried." Nadine said.
"Sorry." James said.
Nadine gave him a squeeze once more.
"I love you and only you..." She said.
James finally smiled. He guessed he just needed to hear that.
"I love you, too." He said in a whisper, now feeling a bit silly.
He heard Nadine's quiet giggle. He inwardly groaned, she would tease him for this for a long time.
"I thought you said you don't get jealous?" Nadine said, gently pulling away from their embrace.
"I don't." James said.
Nadine raised an eyebrow at him.
James shrugged. "I really don't. But you. You're my game changer. There's a different set of rules when it comes to you." He said honestly.
Nadine laughed, shaking her head in amusement, exasperation, and giddiness. Now that the issue's been resolved, she was just feeling light and happy.
"Stop laughing. I was being serious." James said, glaring at her. Nadine knew though, that he was just feeling embarrassed.
"You really are romantically hopeless." Nadine said, still laughing.
But the sound of laughter abruptly stopped when James had pulled her to him none to gently and caught her lips once more.
"I did tell you to stop."
