Love Note (AU)

"Ate!! Tignan mo 'tong nakita ko o. Death Note ata!"

Iris was trying to do her homework; 'trying' being the operative word since she was cursed with a loudmouthed brother.

"Ha? Anong Death Note? Yung sa anime? Nakakuha ka ng merch?"

"Hindi merch! I think it's the real thing!"

Iris glanced at what her little brother was holding. It really was a notebook, and it was pink.

"Death Note pero pink?" She asked exasperatedly.

"Ewan ko kung bakit pink." Paulo said looking unsure, "But it also has rules inside. Look." Paulo passed the notebook to her older sister.

Iris tried not to laugh when she read the front of the notebook, 'Love Note,' it says. She opened it, and surely there were rules on how to use the Love Note.

1. The couple whose names are written in this note shall fall in love.

2. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the couple's faces in their mind when writing their names. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.

3. If the span of their relationship is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the couple's names, it will happen.

4. If the span of their relationship is not specified, the couple will last forever.

5. One page taken from the Love Note, or even a fragment of the page, contains the full effects of the note.

6. The instrument to write with can be anything, as long as it can write directly onto the note and remains as legible letters.

7. The Love Note will be rendered useless if a person's name is misspelled four times.

"I think it's just a prank or something. Tell you what, ako na magtatago nitong 'Love Note'" She wrote quotations in the air. "-na to. Mamaya ipagmayabang mo pa sa ibang tao, mapahiya ka. Now, can you please go? Gumagawa ako ng assignments ko." Iris said to Paulo.

"Pero Ate, yung Death Note ko!" Paulo whined.

"Go. I'm trying to study." Iris said with finality in her voice.

The next day at school, their teacher announced during homeroom that they'll be changing seats.

Iris was hoping she'll be able to sit with Ali. But, alas, she wasn't having any luck. She was envious of Sam who is now sitting besides her long-time crush, Kevin. But at least she wasn't the only one disappointed. Agnes ended up sitting with Jay. They were good friends, but she knew Agnes wanted to sit with Xander. Instead, Kate was now sitting besides Xander. And she was stuck with Basti. It's not that she doesn't like him, it's just, he's so... him. Always hyper, always involved with everyone and their problems. She just doesn't get him that much.

"Hello." Basti told Iris when he sat next to her.

But that was the only time they talked. Basti was much focused on the lecture that Iris wouldn't be surprised if he'd forgotten she was right next to him.

When their teacher started lecturing and Basti started listening, she took a notebook from her bag, not to copy notes, but to scribble.

Her mom was always complaining about having to buy many notebooks because of Iris's hobby. But like they say, old habits die hard.
