AN: AU - Percy Jackson and the Olympians Universe.

Capture the flag - game played in Camp Half Blood by the campers.

Ares - Greek god of war; children are known to be brash and very good in battle

Aphrodite - Greek goddess of beauty and love; children are known to be the typical popular school queens/kings

James' POV

"Give up." I said as I position my sword by her throat, cornering Nadine by a tree just a few yards away from the flag.

She glared at me furiously and I couldn't help but be a bit amazed. Here was a daughter of Aphrodite actually taking me, a son of Ares, on in a fight.

I was distracted with my thought that I didn't realize what was happening until it did. She had swept her feet against mine, making me land flat on my back. Moving swiftly, she snatched my sword away and rest it on top of my throat.

'Wow, she's angry.' I couldn't help but think. 'And she's really beautiful even with that glare.'

"You were saying?" She asked, now grinning smugly.

I try to move to get her off me, but she stopped me quickly by stepping on my right arm and gripping my left with her free hand with the sword still in position under my chin.

"Never underestimate a child of Aphrodite, James." She teased. She said my name with a slightly flirtatious grin on her face and I was stunned. I mean, I was used to daughters of Aphrodite being total flirts, but for some reason, her flirting was more important to me. I never even knew she knows my name.

I couldn't help but smile at her. I knew I failed my team members. Plan was, they would distract the opposing team while I capture the flag. Who knew Ms. Lustre here would be here as guard.

She seemed surprised at my smile, nevertheless she grinned as if she couldn't help herself and raised a brow. "What?" She asked in an amused tone.

I heard cheers just then and I looked sideways from the ground to see Alex--one of Nadine's brothers, waving the flag up. The other team had captured the flag.

Nadine got off me then and helped me up.

"Thanks." I told her.

"You haven't told me what you were smiling about." She said cheekily.

"Well, I figured I couldn't do anything but smile in that position." I said.

She laughed and shrugged. "That pretty much is true." She then looked at me triumphantly. "How was it having been being totally at the mercy of a daughter of Aphrodite?"

"Shameful." I said in mock-sadness. "What would Ares say?"

She laughed and gave me one of her genuine smile. And then she was gone, joining her team members in celebration.

"You as good as hand them the flag." Someone said from my back. I turn to see it was Joseph, my half-brother.

"Sorry." I said sheepishly, not managing to wipe the smile on my face.

Joseph sighed. "Aphrodite had a hand in this, it seems." He muttered.

"It's okay, James." This time it was Kiko, son of Demeter and another of my team member. "It was worth it. At least now we know she knows you exist."

"Thanks a lot." I said sarcastically. Just then Nadine, who was still with her team members glanced my way and flash me a smile.

"You're right. It was worth it."
