Tangled (AU)

(AU where James and Nadine aren't a love team)

James' POV

I told Andrew it wasn't a good idea. Seriously, who would leave their six years old daughter to his brother who's at work? And did I mention his brother is an actor??

I pulled my hair in frustration. Sammy, my niece, has gone missing. And even though my brother is the one at fault, really, I'm sure I'll be blamed in the end.

Earlier, during my interview and solo photoshoot, Sammy stayed with Bret, and they watched Tangled. That's to be expected; the kid's just obsessed with the movie right now. After that, there were layouts with Bret and I together. I left her with my stylist then and apparently, my stylist brought her to the studio's wardrobe when she returned some of the clothes. When I saw Sammy next, she was wearing a pink dress similar to that of Rapunzel and a very long blond wig. What's more, she was holding up a blue vest, white long sleeves shirt, and brown pants.

"Wear them!!" She squealed before I even got a yard from her.

"Huh?"

"Hurry! Change!" She said excitedly. "I'm Rapunzel and you'll be Eugene! I wanted you to be Pascal or Maximus but there were no costumes for that..." She said, looking a little disappointed. I, on the other hand, was thanking God.

I was bullied into changing but when I got out of the dressing room, my little Rapunzel was already gone.

So now, here I am as Flynn Rider, searching through the whole studio (I'm on the second floor now), calling out 'Rapunzel.' I know I look like a lunatic but I'm quite sure she wouldn't respond if I call her by her name (she'd been insistent on being called 'Rapunzel' for a week now). It wouldn't help though, if she can't hear me.

Where did that kid go?? Ugh.

Just when I turned back and go asked my team to help me, I saw a blonde wig.

I looked back sharply and saw pink dress. It's definitely her. She was on the first floor. I saw her stumbled on her wig and fall to the ground. She started crying and I started running to the stairs.

When I arrived to where she is, someone was already kneeling in front of her. With a jolt, I realized who it was: Pop Girl's Nadine Lustre.

Sammy seems to have stopped crying, though there were still tears in her eyes. She was looking at Nadine.

Nadine... she's singing.

"...been hurt
Change the Fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine"

I knew that song. It was Rapunzel's healing incantation in Tangled.

"What once was mine..."

I stopped when I was finally right in front of them.

"There, you're all healed!" Nadine told Sammy. "Can you stand up now?" She asked.

Sammy nodded. They haven't noticed me yet. I was surprised though, when Sammy removed her wig and put it on Nadine's head. She looked as surprised as I feel.

"Rapunzel." I called, picking her up. "Don't do that again, you nearly gave me heart failure."

Sammy shook her head at that. "I'm Sammy." She suddenly said. "She's Rapunzel! She healed me with her song!" She pointed at Nadine.

I smiled at Nadine and looked at her sheepishly. "Thanks so much for taking care of my niece."

"It's no problem." She said, smiling. She was still wearing the wig.

"Eugene!" Sammy called me. "There's Rapunzel! You have to kiss her!"

That sinking feeling when your niece shout those words and the next thing you know everyone was looking at you...
