Going back to work feels a bit abnormal, since the last time I was here, I left in tears. Bentley has made sure there aren't any rumours that flow about me while I was away. I get into my normal routine and start working on the patients.

Despite wanting to ask about Zoe, I held my tongue. I don't feel ready to have the conversation that we need to have. Why did she have to be admitted to this specific hospital?

Why did she have to be her mom?

The mental chatter makes me groan loudly in irritation as I try to focus on the patient files in front of me. Through determination and focus, I get through my shift.

I get my bag from my locker and clock out at the nurse's station. I need a hot shower and my bed. The sight of my car makes me walk towards it quicker in the parking lot. My bed is calling my name and I can't wait to in it. The early morning sun starts to shine through the clouds.

On the drive home, I take a detour to Grayson's house. I miss him, and my need to be near me overshadows the need to be in my house. I hum along to the music as I enter his neighbourhood. Morning joggers and people commuting to their workplaces are a blur as I arrive and park in the driveway.

Stepping out of the car, I walk up to the front door and use the key he gave me to open up. The house is silent, since it is about five-thirty in the morning. As quietly as I can muster, I walk to the guest bathroom, strip off my scrubs, then quickly get into the shower. The warm water relaxes my tense shoulders. When I feel clean, I exit the shower and dry myself off before finishing up.

With a towel wrapped around me, I make my way to Gray's bedroom. I quietly close the door and walk towards his walk-in wardrobe. I slip on a long-sleeved shirt of his before returning to the bedroom. I admire his still sleeping form before I slip in beside him. I snuggle closer to him to soak in his warmth.

He slowly opens his eyes, "Am I dreaming?"

"No."

He lazily smiles, "Good." he wraps his arm around me, pulling me closer to him. He kisses my forehead, and all of the tension I felt just disappears. I close my eyes and fall asleep within minutes.

GREYSON POV:

Her warmth seeps into my bones. Even as close as we are right now, I still feel the need to be much closer. I need to live underneath her skin. My hand caresses her arm. Her soft skin feels so perfect.

How can one person make me feel so much? I love her so much.

Then tell her you fool!

I want to! I internally yell at my subconscious. When the time is right. She's dealing with a lot right now, I don't want to add another thing into the mix. I can wait.

Slowly, I tear myself away from her and head to the bathroom so I can freshen up. When I exit the bathroom, she's still asleep. All I want to do is watch her sleep, but I stifle that urge and get dressed before going to make breakfast for us. I check the time and it's almost eleven in the morning.

Her hands wrap around my waist just as I finish plating the food. I turn and wrap my arms around her. "Good morning," she softly murmurs.

I pull back to kiss her forehead, "Morning, baby."

She looks up at me, I feel as though she is staring deep into my soul.

"How are you feeling?"

She smiles a little, "Better, I guess. I'm not entirely sure."

I nod. "Understandable, take your time, baby. I'll be right here." And I mean it, I will be by her side right through everything.

We let go of each other, and I hand her a cup of hot coffee made just the way she likes it. After we have breakfast, she goes back to bed, and I clean up before going into my office to do some work.

Three hours later, the door slowly opens, making me shift my gaze from the screen towards my lovely girlfriend as she walks towards me with a tray in her hands. "I brought you something to eat." I get a look at the contents on the tray when she places it on the desk. She made me a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, with a cup of steaming hot coffee on the side.

My heart falls deeper for her. She is so thoughtful. "Thank you, baby." I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her towards me so she can sit on my lap. Her warmth seeps right through to my bones. "How are you feeling?"

She snuggles closer to my chest, "Much better now."

"For real?"

She nods as she kisses my neck, "I always feel better when you hold me."

A pleasurable shiver goes down my spine. This woman will be the death of me. "I feel good when I hold you," I murmur softly and place a kiss on her forehead. What I feel for Thandi is just too much for words to describe. All I know is that I will always be here for her. I will always be the safe space she runs to, the warmth she needs and the man who protects her through everything.
