Jiara:Academic Validation

Context:JJ and Kiara have a five year old daughter named Gracelyn after Gracelyn comes home from school sick shes worried about her grades. (There will be a time jump in this)

"Mommy water" Gracelyn yelled. "I'm coming." Kiara said as she went into the bathroom. Kiara gave Gracelyn water and flushed the toilet since she puked. "Can I go back to school now?" Gracelyn asked. "No baby you're sick." Kiara said. "I'm sick... Daddy" Gracelyn said. "Yes princess." JJ said. "Can you take me back to school I have a test." Gracelyn said. "I cannot take you back to school." JJ said. "Why not." Gracelyn whined. "Because you're sick princess." JJ said as he picked Gracelyn up. "But my test." Gracelyn said. "You can take it tomorrow." JJ said as he placed Gracelyn onto her bed. "I want to go to school I need to take my test." Gracelyn said as she tried to get up. "Gracie lay down please." Kiara said as she placed a trash can in front of her bed. "But my test Mommy." Gracelyn said. "Baby your test isn't as important your health." Kiara said. "Get some sleep princess." JJ said as he tucked Gracelyn in. Gracelyn went to sleep while Kiara cleaned the bathroom. "Daddy stay?" Gracelyn said. "I would love to princess but I have to go back to work." JJ said. "Oh ok bye Daddy." Gracelyn said. "Bye princess." JJ said. JJ waved bye and Gracelyn went to sleep. Kiara checked on Gracelyn and saw that she was sleeping so she just stayed with her. Gracelyn woke up and her stomach was in pain. "Mommy my tummy hurts." Gracelyn said. "Do you feel like you're gonna throw up?" Kiara asked. "I don't want to." Gracelyn said. "Here baby." Kiara said as she grabbed the trash can. Gracelyn threw up once and then she felt better. Kiara left and Gracelyn took her vocab words out and started studying them. Kiara saw her studying through the crack of her door and she knew this was the start of Gracelyn's academic validation journey.

10 years later
"Princess let's go." JJ yelled. "I already said I'm not going I need to study." Gracelyn yelled. "Gracie come on we're gonna be late." Kiara said. "I'm not going." Gracelyn yelled. Gracelyn slammed her door and put her headphones on. "We can order her something to go I guess." JJ said. Kiara just walked out and went to the car. JJ texted Gracelyn that they were leaving and she replied back saying I love you. Kiara and JJ were having a pretty good time at the restaurant they were at until Kiara got a call from Gracelyn's friend. "Zoey is everything ok?" Kiara said. "Gracie's gonna kill herself she FaceTimed me and said she couldn't do it anymore. I'm like two minutes away from your house I don't know where you are but I just wanted to let you know." Zoey said. Zoey hung up the phone and she used the spare key JJ gave her and went to check on Gracie. "Gracie" Zoey yelled as she ran upstairs. Zoey heard Gracie struggling to breathe so she opened her door and saw Gracie holding her neck. Zoey cut the rope off of Gracie's neck and she felt Gracie grab her hand. "I'm here G." Zoey said as she hugged Gracie. "I failed my test." Gracie cried. Gracie cried into Zoey's arms until she heard her parents. "You called my parents. Why?" Gracie said. "Because you tried to kill yourself. Gracie you need help." Zoey said. "Gracie you're ok. Thank god." Kiara said as she hugged Gracie. JJ looked at Gracie and he saw how drained she looked and how sick she looked. "Princess you look sick you need to eat something." JJ said. "I can't I failed my test and I have to study and retake it." Gracie said. "Baby you got an 80% that's isn't failing. You did great." Kiara said. "You don't understand this 80% will make my gpa drop and I won't be able to get into Harvard or Yale. I'm stupid." Gracie said. JJ took out the food they brought back and he told Gracie to eat it. Gracie tried to eat the food but she couldn't because the smell made her feel sick. Gracie threw up into the plastic bag and she felt Kiara pull her hair back. "Mommy water." Gracie groaned. Kiara went to get Gracie water while JJ rubbed Gracie's back. "Gracie I'm gonna head home I can come back if you need me to." Zoey said. "Can you stay please." Gracie said. "Yea my mom might yell at me but it's ok." Zoey said. "Here's your waters." Kiara said as she gave a cup to Gracie and Zoey. "Thank you Mrs Maybank but I don't need any water." Zoey said. "Zoey you need to drink some water and your bruises are getting worse. Is your mom drinking again?" Kiara said. "Yea I packed a bag can I stay here?" Zoey said. "Gracie you ate everything do you want anymore?" JJ said as he noticed Gracie eating. "Umm no I..." Gracie said but got up and ran to the bathroom. "JJ get Zoey situated I've got Gracie." Kiara said. JJ helped Zoey get situated while Kiara was in the bathroom with Gracie. "You're ok G." Kiara said as she rubbed Gracie's back. "I ate way to fast." Gracie said as she sat up. "Do you want to tell me what's been going on?" Kiara said. "Isn't it obvious." Gracie said. "It is but why G. Why did you think that was the only way out?" Kiara said. "I don't know and why do you care it's not like you understand you and dad only have your GEDs. Which is nothing." Gracie said. "Us having our GEDs led us to being able to buy this house and earning our degrees. So you what you think is nothing I think is something." Kiara said. "A GED just shows that you can complete high school without going to high school." Gracie said. "You're the reason I couldn't complete high school. You're the reason I lost all of my friends and got called the town slut. You're the reason..." Kiara ranted until Gracie cut her off. "If I'm the reason you can't do anything then give me up. Do it you know you want to." Gracie said. Gracie walked out of the bathroom and went downstairs. "Princess where are you going?" JJ said as he saw Gracie go downstairs. "Anywhere but here." Gracie said. Zoey went after Gracie and as they both were walking outside crash and screams just overtook the neighborhood. "No no no" Kiara said as she went downstairs.
