Vivian (POV):

The phone in my hand felt heavy as I stared down at it. Jayden wasn't coming home, and I wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. I wanted my daughter to spread her wings and live her life but now that it was happening I wasn't sure how to feel. This would officially be the longest we had ever spent apart since I first held her in my arms. Jayden and I had always had a close relationship but the phone call I received all of ten minutes ago had my mind spinning. She had sounded unlike herself on the phone; her voice held no emotions, which was nothing like Jayden. She had always been a positive and happy person but the woman I talked to on the phone was short and to the point. Even when I told her I loved her she had left me hanging.

"Are you okay my love?" Sophie's soft voice pulled me back into the present.

"Something's not right..." I whispered as a tear fell onto my phone.

Sophie crawled onto the bed and wrapped her arms tightly around my body. "Talk to me my love, what's going on?" She cupped my chin tilting it slightly up.

"Jayden just called and said she's staying there for a few more days." I said quietly.

Sophie tilted her head slightly, a look of confusion passing across her eyes. "That's a good thing though isn't it? You wanted her to make friends." Her thumb brushed lightly over my cheek bone collecting the tears that had fallen.

"I do... It's just when she called she didn't sound like herself. She was short with me and her voice didn't sound as happy as she usually is." I took a deep breath to gather my emotions. "S-She didn't even respond when I told her I loved her." I said the words so quietly I wasn't sure if Sophie caught it.

"Maybe you should call her back, I'm sure she didn't mean to upset you. She's probably just busy with everything going on there. Jayden loves you more than anything, I'm sure there's an explanation." Sophie's lips pressed firmly to the top of my head as she tightened her hold on me.

I couldn't contain the tears that spilled from my eyes as I sunk into her embrace. Sophie held me tightly as waves of overwhelming sadness washed over my body. As sobs wracked my body Sophie's hand moved in soothing circles. The movement of her hand slowly brought me back down to earth. As I focused on her touch the tears began to slow and my sobs turned into soft hiccups. Just as I was beginning to ground myself there was a knock at the door.

"Viv, are you there?" Wren's familiar voice was faint through the thick wooden door.

"Come in!" Sophie called out as she wiped the remaining tears from my face.

The door opened slowly and Wren's head poked around it. The smile that played on her lips quickly fell as she took in the scene before her. In a quick movement she slipped into the room and closed the door behind her.

"Is everything okay?" Wren said as worry laced each word.

"Yes everything's okay I'm just a little sad that Jayden won't be returning tonight." I sighed resting my head against Sophie's shoulder.

"What do you mean Jayden won't be home tonight? Where is she?" Wren's brows were pinched tightly together and something I couldn't quite place flashed in her eyes.

"She went with Storm, Gabriela, Aurora and Violet to visit Storm's family. They were supposed to come back tonight but Jayden wanted to stay longer." I explained as I watched Wren's face change it almost looked as though she was anxious.

"I'm surprised you and Sophie didn't escort her." Wren said as her eyes narrowed.

"She's old enough to go on her own, I'm her mom not her keeper." I said, crossing my arms against my chest. I didn't like the judgement that was coming off of Wren.
