Violet (POV):
Everything around me seemed to fade into the background as I tried to process Aurora's words. Could I really be one of their mates? And if that was the case why was Jasmine so hot and cold with me? It would explain the unexplainable need to be around them. However I didn't understand why I wasn't feeling the mate bond like they felt towards one another.
"Y-you t-think I'm your m-mate?" I said quietly as I took a hesitant step around Alice.
"There's no way I'm letting that one get near you." Alice growled slightly, her eyes locked on Jasmine as her arms wrapped protectively around my waist, her body pressed firmly against my back. The second her body came in contact with mine my muscles began to relax as I sunk into the embrace.
There was something about Alice's protective side that made me swoon. She was always the one person who could make me feel safe no matter what. Even if she was growling at a literal fallen angel who wasn't a threat to either of us. I knew for a fact that Jasmine wouldn't do anything to upset Jayden further and attacking Alice would definitely piss Jayden off.
"Just let them explain." I whispered as I looked up at Alice who's eyes were still burning holes through Jasmine.
Aurora and Jasmine's eyes locked on Alice's arms wrapped around my waist. I could see the gears turning in their heads as they tried to work out Alice's relationship with me. When Aurora's eyes shifted back up towards mine I could see what looked to be jealousy flash in her eyes. But it quickly disappeared as she began to speak.
"You two are together?" Aurora's voice was calm although it was mixed with a slightly jealous tone.
"Yes" Alice said before I had the chance to respond. Her grip on me tightened slightly and her chin came to rest on my shoulder. I could feel her breath against my neck and the sensation made shivers run down my spine. For the first time since I met her it felt as though she was staking her claim on me and my inner vampire was beyond happy.
"Mmmm I don't know about that blondie, if Aurora is right Violet is ours." Jasmine said with a cocky grin as she took a step forward.
As the words left Jasmine's lips a low growl rumbled in Alice's chest. Her whole body practically vibrated as she gently guided me behind her. She crouched slightly and I could tell by her posture that there was no way either Aurora or Jasmine would be coming near me. The hiss that passed through Alice's lips made Jasmine's eyes go completely black. The world seemed to slow as both women took defensive stances ready to fight at any moment. Alice was the first to take a step forward into Jasmine's space.
Jasmine's wings opened up, showing off her full size which was quite impressive. Her power made the air around us feel thick, almost suffocating and I knew there was no chance that Alice would win if this ended in a fight. Alice was a powerful vampire but Jasmine's power was nothing I had ever felt before. In a matter of seconds the two women stood practically toe to toe. Growls filled the air and I could feel shivers run down my spine as I held my breath.
"Jazz that's enough. You're making Violet uncomfortable." Aurora said, her voice cutting the tension like a knife. The moment Jasmine registered Aurora's voice her eyes brightened into a deep crimson although her posture was still stiff.
"If Violet is our mate then blondie over there needs to back the fuck off." Jasmine snarled, her eyes still locked onto Alice.
Something about the way Jasmine was talking about Alice made a fire burn in my stomach. The one thing I couldn't stand was anyone treating Alice with disrespect. Normally I could hold my tongue but if Jasmine was my mate there was no way in hell I'd tolerate her disrespecting Alice. Without thinking I moved forward quickly yanking Alice behind me. All I could hear was her gasp as I got into Jasmine's space. Our bodies were only inches apart and I could feel her breath against my skin.
