Sophie (POV):

My fingers moved quickly over the keyboard, time was running out and Wren would be back shortly. After Wren's odd behaviour the other day I had taken it upon myself to do some digging. Wren had always seemed off to me since the moment I met her. The only problem was that I was never able to prove anything. The woman kept her personal life so private that we barely even saw her mate Lily, which concerned me. Vivian and I were practically glued at the hip and the fact that we only typically saw Wren was odd given her and Vivian's relationship. Vivian had always just brushed off the odd behaviour claiming that Wren had always been very private. So while Viv was busy in the gardens I decided to take a peek around Wren's office.

As I sifted through file after file I started to doubt my initial suspicion. Nothing out of the ordinary was popping out at me. There were hundreds of files to go through at this rate, I'd have to come back here a few times before I'd get through them all. Just as I was about to shut down the computer I noticed a folder labeled 2022-2023. Now if anyone else had seen that folder they might not have thought anything of it. However, at the end of 2022 the castle was raided. Quickly I opened the folder, inside was various security recordings from 2022 all the way to the end of 2023. As far as I was aware no footage had been recovered from the day of the attack.

Puzzle pieces began to shift into place as my eyes flickered over the various thumbnails. Wren hadn't been at the castle on the day of the attack, that's why it had been so easy for her to not give Vivian any details of that day. Wren had also been the one to say that all the video footage had been wiped. Claiming that the Lycan must have gotten one of her allies to crash their security systems. Everything was starting to become a little clearer, the only question that hung in my mind was why? What did she have to gain from any of this? Wren was already Vivian's right hand, she had more power than the majority of people who lived here.

As my mind whirled, a thumbnail of a red headed woman caught my eye. The video was labeled "bunker delivery room". Without thinking I clicked on the video. In the video was a young red headed woman who looked to be in labour. Sweat beaded across the young woman's face, it looked as though she was being hit with a strong contraction. Her face contorted in pain just as another woman entered the frame. I immediately recognized the woman to be Aurora. Well at least Aurora being here was something that Wren had told the truth about. Even though there was no sound to the video I could see Aurora's lips moving, she looked like she was comforting the woman through each contraction.

Fastforwarding slightly I watched as Aurora delivered a small baby. From what I could see it looked to be a baby boy. He had a head of thick black hair and his skin was fair. Aurora left the frame with the little one in her arms, the small boy's mum laid back on the bed still catching her breath. Aurora must have been talking to the woman from across the room because something made the woman start to cry. Shortly after Aurora came back into frame placing the small infant into the redheads arms. When Aurora walked away my breath caught in my throat as I paused the video.

Horror washed through my body as I stared at two sparkling green eyes. There was only one person I had ever seen with those emerald green eyes. The video wasn't of some random birth, it was Jayden's birth. The horror continued to grow as I watched Vivian's wolf enter the room, her normally peaceful wolf looked almost possessed as it stalked towards the small woman. Just as Vivian got close to the redhead debris flew across the camera's lens. For a moment dust hung in the air obscuring the video, as the dust cleared a large Lycan appeared. The creature was absolutely terrifying, muscles upon muscles rippled on its large frame. Before I could blink the Lycan had its large claws wrapped around Vivian's neck causing her to shift back into her human form.

So many emotions went through my mind as my eyes stayed locked onto the computer screen. This wasn't my mate, something was off about the woman on the screen. Vivian wasn't a malicious person, she had always been nothing but kind and caring. Hell, she loved me and Jayden more than she cared for herself. As the Lycan's claws gripped her neck I noticed a flash of purple in Vivian's eyes. It was so brief that I had to rewind the footage multiple times to make sure I had seen it correctly. Then something happened that made no sense to me, Vivian vanished into thin air.
