Chapter 67

After our safety demo I grouped up with Noodle , Cherry and Cherry's puppy Viny.

We sat down waiting our turn, Cherry went first , she could hardly pull back the bow.

Viny nudged Noodle.

" that view though" he laughed. Noodle squinted in the sun.

" what view, all I have is sun haha"

I giggled too, it was true Cherry had a great body, but I was happy Noodle didn't say too much about it.

The activity continued. We were all having a good time, Viny want too bad. He and Noodle put up with each other. Cherry pushed him around for most of it, she was frustrated that she couldn't hit the target at all.

I went after her. I was on the target each time, but my aim was horrible. I mean, I hit the target in different spot each time... I could draw the bow with ease which was a relief.

I was beginning to get a pounding in my head and a pain in my left shoulder from an indoor soccer injury.

Noodle however, got the target every time. He got 4 bullseyes too... I was impressed. One of the bonuses of being in the bush on such a warm morning, was , one that we had to follow the shade to keep cool. That meant the angle I was sitting at was perfect to draw him. I got out my sketch pad to draw him. He had taken his jacket off too, his shirt was skin tight.

His hair fell lightly over his face, curling around his neck and ears, it had a glow about it in the sun. His pale skin drawn tight around his muscles. He looked focused and obsessed with his aim. It was fascinating to watch and draw.

I got a rough outline before he came back over and handed the bow over to Viny.

" whatcha doing?" he asked.

" well I was sketching..." I mumbled.

" what now? What be you sketching?" he asked inquisitively.

" nothing... don't worry , you don't deserve to see it" I smiled.

" hey Viny , 5 bucks says you don't even hit the target !" yelled out Cherry.

" please?" asked Noodle, edging closer.

" you've seen some of my stuff, you don't need to see anymore"

" yeah... but that was ages ago..." he pleaded , reaching for my book.

" yeah ... naa... yeah... no... is it just me or is it exceptionally hot this fine winters morning?"

" yes, that's because it's actually sunny... and because you didn't eat breakfast" he smiled.

" mmm" I groaned , I laid onto my back and felt the cold grass on my neck.

He brushed some of my short curls from my face, " you know , I do have some food in my back pack... maybe I could see your sketches for some food?"

" what have you got?" I asked quickly. I was feeling exceptionally hungry after the longest walk ever and no breakfast. I had also a history of passing out... so maybe food at a faint time like this was a good bargain.

" there's an apple and a muesli bar I brought from home, I grabbed them cause I knew you'd be hungry with-out breakfast" he smiled, and I handed over my book , while he got out his food.

" who knew food and no breakfast would win you over!?" he said happily.

Cherry was watching me. She gave me a satisfied thumbs up.
