Chapter 2
Sunny and humid was Sunday morning, barely a cloud in the sky and birds hung on power poles.
This would be the first of many weekends and afternoons when I would be taking time out for my art works, and other duties.
Sitting in the park down the street , I sketched little birds and their wings, so free and capable. Already so mature in their short lifespans, while I was just starting mine.
I moved on to flowers and their delicate sense of beauty. So many fine lines and colours.
I had my pastels by my side colouring and outlining. Carefully I sprayed each drawing with a chemical spray that makes the colour set and stops rubbing and smudging.
" should do me for the week" I said as I stretched, I had been sitting in that park in the shade since early morning, enough to catch the early morning sun rise out from its hiding place.
I pulled my denim shorts down a little , adjusted my Green Day shirt and touched the amethyst crystal around my neck.
" there you are!" , I turned to see a tall boy striding my way. The sun caresses his skin making it glow an odd tan , he looked pale but then seemed to glow. His dark hair fell and curled around his neck and shoulders, his skull cap fell just before his perfect eyes. Such a piercing blue it was hard to look past their colour and dark lashes. I never noticed but he was fairly long and lanky, but his muscles seemed to fit into the different angles of his body.
" been waiting a while" I said , putting my hands on my hips.
" how long ?" he said , stopping in front of me with soccer ball under his arm.
" since the sun rise" I said, smiling a little.
" really? Wow, I didn't know you were a sun rise person!" he joked.
" well, only when I get inspired" I glanced at my sketch book on the ground , then back at his body. Either I was short or he was tall, I was only just at his chest!
" so soccer" he said, " run me through how to kick a ball"
For the next two hours we ran through drills and different strength training ideas I had on the abandoned playground.
As we were walking away sweaty and tired to the fast food joint down the other end of the street, we talked about bands and my t shirt.
" so you're a punk rocker hey?" , he glanced at the title ' Greenday' on my chest.
" you could say that , yourself , any similar interest?" I say, not meaning to sound so formal.
" yeah, rock is my genre" he said calmly.
We ran through a list of bands all the way into the Hungry Jacks, agreeing disagreeing and fighting over what category Nirvana fell under. Turns out I like more electro than I thought.
" fries at gross" he said when my meal came out, seeing as I only ordered fries and lemonade.
" well, I don't like burgers" I said , looking at his double decker burger and full on meal.
" I don't care " he said and we picked a table and ate in silence. We were enjoying the food too much to care.
" wait- " he said, and nearly dropped his burger to wipe his hands.
" huh?" I looked up from my fries, he was getting out his iphone.
" this is the first time I've done something with a friend in this town, can I get a picture?" he asked.
" well why not, you already have your phone out" I shrugged.
We got into a selfie pose, me holding a fry and poking out my tongue and him smiling handsomely into the camera.
" aww you look cute, like a dog with rabies" he said smiling putting the phone back in his pocket.
" that's touching, punk is rabies now ?" I joked , throwing a fry at him.
" who said punk, I thought your style was 90s hippy!"
" grunge? "
" maybe"
There was a long pause after that as we both took another bite into the last bits of our food.
" sketch book, morning ... were you doing a sunrise sketch?" he asked reaching for my book on the table.
I moved my hand on it quickly, " no touchy, your correct, but no touchy "
" it's a sketch book, it's not like it's a diary?" he laughed.
" isn't it ?" I questioned, giving him one of my famous eyebrows.
" oh that's seductive" he said giving me and even bigger eyebrow, his eyes had a hint of challenge in them.
" really now" I said lowering mine, and hugging my book close to my chest.
" jokes"
The rest of the day panned out well. We parted shortly after that, he was taking valuable skills with him and I was taking new drawing ideas.
I decided to keep this to myself, and let Connie and Eve find out in there-own time. After all , they do tend to get jealous and take things the wrong way.
