Author's Note: This takes place in the cliche coffee shop AU.
Levi gazes out the window of the Three Sisters Café when it starts to snow. The stary night sky, filling with clouds. It has been a mild winter with few snowstorms and a constant temp of 12 - 26°F. People are still flushing in and out of the café though. Levi couldn't care less about the people coming in with snow covered boots, leaving puddles of slush for him to clean. Those were his least favorite people. Everyone else was just a face in the crowd, except one. Levi waited anxiously for her to come through the door like she did everyday. He tiptoed over the other baristas, who were busy at work, craning his neck to look in the doorway as he heard the bell chime. A small blush coated Levi's cheeks. There she is.
A girl came shuffling in as she kicked the snow from her black boots before entering. She unwrapped the gray, knitted scarf from around her neck and set it in her usual spot. A curve in the corner where she'd sit quietly sipping her drink and sketching in her book. She slid her satchel off her shoulder and set it in the same place. Nimble fingers slid through wavy, (h/c) locks. Her crisp ends laid tenderly against her white sweater, hanging loosely above the knees. She stood third in line, as she did everyday, and everday she would order the same drink. An expresso with extra whipped cream and caramel drizzled on top. Plus a bit of pumpkin spice to give it some Fall flavoring. Levi had prepped the drink so when she came to the counter it would already be waiting, still hot and fresh.
Levi rang up a total of $3.67. She pressed a five in his hand and he returned the change of $1.33. Levi's icy blue eyes caught on her swaying hips as she wandered back to her seat. Her black leggings wrinkled as she sat with her feet on the seat and knees together, acting as an easel. Her soft lips cradled the cup rim as she sipped. From her bag she retrieved a sketchbook and pencil bag, which she placed beside her drink. Taking out a pencil her hand began creating a scene on the paper. Levi stayed behind the counter and watched. Slowly, he her loved just a little bit more everyday, until he had fallen completely in love with the girl. Levi had fallen in love with the way she didn't need to speak to be understood. He fell in love with the way she didn't need makeup or "stylish" clothes to be beautiful. He fell in love with the way she could innocently smile in her loneliness. He fell in love with every bit of her.
The rush of the night had passed, but she still sat there. Levi was sitting at the counter. The café was supposed to close an hour ago, but for her Levi would keep it open until she left. He began nodding off when he heard a sweet voice say, "Excuse me." Levi gazed up at her. She held her satchel against her chest and a pink blush dusted her cheeks. "Yes?" Levi asked as his slouching posture disappeared. "Well, I've been coming to this café for a little over a year now- and I always see you when I'm here- and I realized I've never given you a tip. So-" From behind the leather she revealed a sheet of paper. Her hands tremored a bit as she passed it to Levi. "-here. Consider this your tip for all those times I didn't give you one." Levi's eyes scanned the parchment. In his hands he held a portrait of himself.
It was identical to the real him. From each strand of hair to the chilling details in his eyes. His fingertips traced the lines just like she had drawn them. "Turn it over," she whispered. Levi flipped the page and hung on these words, I love you without knowing how, or when or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: Where I does not exist, nor you, so we can be so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, and that your eyes close as I fall asleep. Levi read the words over and over again until a power came over him. He dropped the paper as he climbed over the counter and took her face. Running his fingers against her warm skin. He breathed the scent of fresh, ground coffee into her and the flavor thrilled her tastebuds. She found her way up his chest and into his dark, ebony hair. The echo of their kisses broke the silence of the café and silenced the world outside. Levi ran his tounge gently over her pursed lips. He mmmmmm-ed in pleasure. "Sweet like caramel and zesty like caffeine."
P.S. I apologize for no recent updates, but I'll be trying to get them out soon as possible. I was on a week long, no WiFi vacation. Again I apologize.
