"I wish I were there when you need me. Every single time, it's always you who stood by my side, supported me, cared about me, and even gave me a ray of hope to live. Had I been with you, you could have escaped from this accident. It was all my fault that I hadn't hired anyone to keep an eye on you in my absence. I am so useless for not being there with you when you needed me the most, which now haunts me with the question,
'Do I even deserve to think about you? '
I know that you will never ask anything but genuinely about my well-being. How selfless of you, and how idiotic I was for not being there for you despite knowing that you never open up to me?
I know that you may forgive me this time as well, but I can't sleep peacefully knowing that I failed to protect you. And forget about sleep, I can't live normally until your health stabilizes. I have always hurt you and made you cry for years, so now you may think it's your time for vengeance, but please recover this time. I swear, I will take any amount of pain if you punish me for this lifetime as long as you stay alive, safe, and healthy.
Please, I beg, please come back to your senses, Deepu, I can't see my life in your absence. It feels so worthless and suffocating to even think about."
He is crying bitterly and talking to her till he is out of breath. His heavy sobs slowed down when someone knocked on the door. Wiping his tears, he kissed her hand and went to open the door.
K: "I am sorry to interrupt your space, but I came to inform you that the doctor was about to arrive, so please get hold of yourself."
With this, he nodded and left the room, placing a kiss on her forehead. The doctor checked and informed that she is doing well, but it should be confirmed by tomorrow morning. Parthiv enquired more about her condition and even thought of shifting the hospital, but got convinced later when everyone assured that the treatment is going well and it is nearer to her home, which could be easier for Kartheeka and Deepthi's parents.
Since it's already past 12, Parthiv insisted on staying while Kartheeka took Deepthi's parents to rest in the meantime. Neither could he sleep nor could he stay still, not for more than 10 minutes, so he was checking her now and then without disturbing her. He informed his parents and assured them he was there and supporting her family.
The next day, when everyone was waiting for the doctor,
K: "Parthiv, I knew how difficult it must be for you, but I am suspecting that it could be more than an accident, considering the circumstances, as the driver hasn't been caught yet, and I surely believe that person intentionally ran the car over her."
P: "I was about to talk to you on the same thing, Kartheeka. I was about to ask you the same when I reached, but I completely forgot when I saw her in the I.C.U. Lying on the deathbed, with those wounds all over her body, fighting like a warrior,"
K: "Undoubtedly she is. Don't be disheartened, Parthiv, she will make it, for sure."
P: "How could someone be this brutal to hurt an angel, who always radiates a warm sunshine-like smile and never hurts anyone, but is the kindest person? Whomever it is, I will make sure they pay for what they have done, and I will make sure they regret bothering the woman I prioritize the most. Please don't reveal this to anyone, Kartheeka, unless it is necessary."
She nodded to him, as they were speaking, the doctor entered her room to check.
"Patient's health seems a bit steady now. But it takes time to gain her consciousness, so don't disturb her. After checking her further, we will decide about the surgeries based on the physical tolerance she can take and the tests that need to be done."
