He hugged her tightly and caressed her back, which helped her breathing return to normal. It was almost midnight, so he thought of leaving. But the moment he reached the door, he heard those screams again.
"Parthiv, please don't leave me. He will come for sure, he will be searching for me. He is gonna kill me........"
Those yelps echoed in the room, and she was sobbing continuously for the next hour. When she finally came back to her senses, she sat silently, covering her face against her knees,
"P- Parthiv, I-"
"No, Deepu. Don't need to be embarrassed."
"It wasn't there in the hospital. Even after being discharged, Kartheeka used to accompany me at night until I insisted on leaving last week. When I started to live alone, this anxiety increased to the point where I couldn't sleep and had some nightmares and jerks. I didn't consider them seriously, but over the past couple of days, it's getting worse than I thought. Even though the case is closed, I am still being rewound like waves around that."
"Why- Why didn't you tell me earlier? Had I left soon, just like every other day, I would have never known it. When will you start trusting me, Deepu?"
"I swear, tonight was terrible. I haven't been attacked at this intensity before."
"Let's go out!"
"Heh?"
"You need some fresh air, right? Let's go out."
"Parthiv, for god's sake, it's 3.30 in the morning and I-"
"Trust me. We will return in an hour."
With this, he stood up and reached out to her hand, to which she gave a skeptical look. When she saw his assurance,
"Okay, gimme 10 minutes. I will be changing."
"Which sane person roams in the midnight to check if you wore formal attire or not? Moreover, I know that you will take at least 30 minutes. So no need for all those things, just come as you are."
"Parthiv, are you crazy by any chance? Like yours is good, look at my outfit, if by chance, anyone sees me, they will praise your generosity, thinking that you are helping a homeless girl."
"C'mon, you don't look that bad."
Saying this, he dragged her, and together they went on a ride. They stopped in the middle of a bridge, where the roads are empty and the sky is shining with stars with the bright moon.
"This looks so peaceful and calm. Sometimes, being in a less crowded area stimulates your brain less."
When she didn't get any response, she turned sideways, only to realize that he was already staring at her, so deeply that he didn't listen to the question. Their eyes locked for a moment, which is carrying nothing but the presence, trust, and longing for each other.
Their beautiful moment got disturbed by a passing truck,
D: "You didn't answer my question."
P: "You questioned me?"
D: "Parthiv-"
P: "I am sorry, I lost somewhere in serenity. Can you repeat?"
D: "I asked how soothing this moment feels right now."
P: "Yeah, indeed, but the thing is, it depends on who you are spending with. You can sit in an isolated area for hours, but you won't find peace if you are not with the right person. But if you could go to a crowded place, you can still find your peace if you enjoy every moment with the right person by your side. So it's always the person we crave and yearn for who brings peace."
