•Flashback•
I walked along the road watching all the cars drive by. I turned walking backwards. I tried flagging down cars but none stopped. I then saw a police car. "Shit." I mumbled. I turned back around. I began to run. I heard the sirens blare. I shook my head my breathing getting heavy. I finally stopped. The car pulled up behind me. "Please let me go." I said as one of the men stepped out of the car. "Come on Cody." He said. I shook my head. "I can't go back there." As he walked towards me I backed away. "What's your name?" I asked. "Rick." I nodded. "Rick, please don't take me back there. You don't know enact happened to me there." He looked at me. "Will you tell me what happened?" I shook my head. "You're just trying to find a way to get me into the car." He shook his head. "Just tell me Cody." I sighed. "He beat me and my mother. He tried to kill my mom." I looked down. "He tried to kill her 3 times." Rick looked at me. "Did you stop him?" I nodded. "I helped her more than you fucking did." I yelled. "My mother called the police to help us. But did you believe me and my mom. No you didn't you believed my dad." He looked at me reaching his hand out. "Why won't you come with me?" I looked at him. "I don't want to go back there." Tears came to my eyes. "Cody I can help you." I looked up. "How?" Rick stared at me. "Whatever you think will help you and your mom." I stared back at him. "Get her out of there. And throw my dad's ass in jail." Rick nodded. "Okay."

I stared out the window. "You doing okay Cody?" He asked. I nodded. "You lied about helping me didn't you." Rick looked over to me shaking his head. "Your mom and you can stay with my family for as long as you need." I looked at him. "Really?" He nodded. "Cody how old are you?" I sighed. "13." I said. He nodded. As we pulled up to a red light Rick looked over to me. "The scar, under your ear did your father do that?" I nodded. "And these." I said turning my head. I pointed to my eyebrow, under my eye, and my arms. "This is what he does to me and my mom." Rick sighed. "I'm sorry." He said. "I'm surprised as cop could be sorry for people." He sighed again. "What does that mean, Cody?" I shrugged. "The cops I've met before never wanted to hear about the kid they only cared about my mom at the time. They felt sorry for my mom never for me. Never asked me anything. Never wanted my side of the story." Rick nodded. "I don't why I'm telling you this." I said. "No one will understand."

"This is your house right Cody." He asked. I nodded. "If you have to shot my father don't hesitate just pull the trigger." Rick shook his head stepping out of the car. I watched as Rick walked up to the door. His gun was in his hand. I closed my eyes. Then I heard yelling. Please be okay mom. Please be okay. Then I heard the front door to the house slam. I opened my eyes. I saw my mom being walked out. I got of the car and ran to her. "Mom!" I yelled. I pulled her into a hug. Tears ran down my face. "I'll never leave you alone again." My mom hugged me back. "My boy." She said. "I'm sorry for everything mom." I held her close to me as we walked to the car. I'll never let you go again mom.

•Next Day•
"Rick, why did you bring these people here?" I heard a woman's voice say. I lied there on the couch. "Mary, they need someone and somewhere to stay." I heard the woman sigh. "You can't help everyone Rick." I then saw her walk past the living room. Rick followed after her. "Were you awake for that Cody?" I nodded. "Yes." Rick sighed. "I'm sorry."
•Flashback over•

I was dead. Gone out of everyone's lives. I looked around at where I was. I was in a church. There was a woman kneeling by an open casket. I walked up to her. I knelt down next to her. My eyes widened as I saw my own body lying there. "Cody, why did this happen." I looked over it was my mom. "I'm okay mom. Trust me. It's better this way." I said to her. Her eyes were bloodshot. "This wouldn't have happened if your father didn't come to see you." I nodded. "Mom I wanted to let go. It's better like this. Please trust me." I reached my hand out to hers. She looked up. "I love you." She stood up. I watched as she walked away.

I still knelt there next the casket when I heard the door to the church open. I looked back. Rick. He walked slowly up to the casket. Tears were in his eyes. "Cody," he said. "I still remember when you were the kid everyone was searching for." He looked down. "You said cops couldn't feel sorry for people." His eyes filled with more tears. "I feel sorry for this. Your father wasn't supposed to see you ever again. But he was brought to see you." He finally broke down. "Cody, I didn't just save you, you saved me." I looked at him. "Rick," he looked in my direction. "Oh and you also said the cops never heard your side of the story. They finally did. After you told me I told them. You helped your mother and yourself for telling me." He said. "You helped Cody. You helped."

Note: Never thought I would do a Cody part again would you. To be honest I cried typing the ending. I don't know if it's something to cry over but I did.
