Recap: "You don't understand Luke. You don't understand."
"Cody, calm down." Luke said. I shook my head. "I can't! He hurt her! He could have killed her and me!" My fingers ran through my hair. Luke swung his legs over the side of his bed. He placed his feet on the ground. As soon as he put weight on his feet he fell back down. "Cody, just go out there and confront him." I shook my head rapidly. "No, I can't." Luke lied back in his bed. "Cody, I'm not much of a help here." He said. "You'll have to find someone else to help you." I shook my head. "Fuck you." I mumbled walking out the door.
•Flashback•
"Please bring back our son." I heard the news say. I looked up. I stared at the television. "Please bring him back." My mother said through the pain and tears in her eyes. I shook my head. Her face was all bruised and cut. "Kid, you gonna pay?" I looked at the cashier. I dug through my pockets, then pulling out $2.40. "It's not enough kid. It's $3.40. You're a dollar short." I nodded. "I fucking know." I looked back at the television screen. "Kid, you don't have the money get out there's a line." I looked behind me. "I'm sorry. Does anyone have a dollar to help me?" The people ignored me. "Fucking assholes." I said walking to the door. "Cody get you ass back here." I turned. "You fucking get back here!" I bolted out the door.I ran across the parking lot to the woods that were in back. I darted though the woods. I turned to look behind me to see if the person who was in the shop was still behind me. I heard a twig snap. "Who the fuck is there!" I yelled. "Come on kid. Just come back to your parents." I shook my head backing away as the person stepped closer. "Stay there." I said holding my finger up. The person stopped they then reached down to their pocket. "What are you doing!" I yelled. "Cody calm down." The person said pulling a badge out. "I'm from the Sydney Police Department. Please just come back with me Cody." I shook my head. "Fuck off. I'm not welcome back home." I said backing farther away from the man. "Kid, come on your parents are worried." He said. "I don't give a shit about him." The man looked at me confused. "What do you mean?" He asked. "My father. The one that pleads for me to come home. Is also the one who beats my mother and I." I pulled my hair back to show a scar running across my forehead. "Why don't you take him instead of me." I turned and ran.
•2 days later•
"You can't take any money without your mother or father, boy." The bank teller said. I sighed. "My mother she can't walk and I need money to pay for her treatments. My father he's no where to be found. Please I just need money for food and my mother." I said making tears come to my eyes. The bank teller shook her head. "Do you have your mother's card?" I shook my head. "She never gave it to me." She shook her head. "What's your mother's name?" She asked me. "Catherine Heron." I said. The lady turned back to the computer. "How much do you need?" She looked back at me. "200." I said. She stared at me. "That's enough?" I nodded. "Alright kid." She said as the drawer opened. "What would you like it in?" I looked at her confused. "What kind of bills would you like?" I gritted my teeth. "Tens?" I said. "Is that a question?" I shook my head. "No ma'am." She nodded counting out the money. "200. Here you go kid." I smiled grabbing the money. "Thank you."I sat slumped in the chair with my hood up. "Young man," I looked over. "Yes?" I said. "What would you like?" The waiter said. "Just a soda." I said. The waiter nodded. "I don't care what it is." I said quickly before he asked. He nodded walking away. "Turn the television up!" I heard someone yell. Then I heard the sound of the breaking news. "Cody Heron, age 17, was found two days ago by Officer Charles Jackson. Jackson first confronted the boy at a local convenience store in downtown Melbourne." I looked over to the TV. "Heron, was not taken into custody. Officer Jackson told Heron's parents that he was there but told him 'it was better out in the world.' More on this story at 11." I turned back around. "Damn kids running away from home." The waiter said. "Yeah." I said. "Really sucks for the fucking family." I shook my head. "You okay kid?" He asked. "Yeah." I said. "Just I want to be left alone please." He nodded. "Alright. If you need anything I'm Jack. Just call for me." I nodded.
"Kid," my eyes opened quickly. "What? What?" I said rubbing my eyes. "We're closed." I looked out the window. It was dark. "What time is it?" I asked. "9:30." They said. "Shit." I said jumping out of the chair. "Where are you going?" He yelled. "Some place where they can't find me."
•Flashback over•"Cody?" There was knock at my door. "What!" I yelled. The person opened the door. "There's someone here to see you." I shook my head. "I don't want to see them." I said. "Come on Cody." The nurse said. I sighed. "Fine." I said.
The nurse walked me down the hall. "Here." He said. "Talk." There stood a tall man, bald head, and tattoos running up his arm. "Dad." I said. "Well hello you little shit."
Note: Well damn. Who liked the flashback? Cause I did.
