06. Fruit Of The Poisoned Tree

Both Lily and Rebekah entered the room Klaus and Elijah were in, immediately the two girls were confused seeing the two originals sitting across each other, each with a book in their hand while a dead girl that had blood dripping from her neck, laid on the table between them.

"So this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family, vampire book club" an annoyed Rebekah said.

"Reading edifies the mind, sister" Klaus informed, "Isn't that right, Elijah?".

"Yes, that's quite right, Niklaus" Elijah agreed.

"What's with the girl on our coffee table?" a confused Lily asked.

"This is a peace offering" Elijah replied.

"Of course it is" Lily mumbled, shaking her head at her boyfriend.

"I presumed, after so much time desiccating in a coffin, that my big brother might be a bit peckish" Klaus said.

"So I explained to my little brother that forgiveness cannot be bought" Elijah continued, "I'd simply prefer to see a change in behavior that indicates contrition and personal growth, not this nonsense".

"I couldn't very well let her go to waste, could I?" Klaus defended.

"Well, I suppose I'll fetch the rubbish bin because you're staining a two hundred year old carpet" Rebekah snapped, as she walked out the room.

"Oh, yes" Elijah realised as he watched the girls blood drip down to the ground and onto their carpet.

"I need food" Lily said, as she walked into the kitchen, unaware of both Klaus and Elijah's eyes on her, a frown appeared on Klaus's face when he saw Elijah close his book and follow Lily into the kitchen.

Lily entered the kitchen, where Stefan was drinking a cup of coffee, she gave her best a smile before walking straight to the fridge.

"Lily" Elijah called out, Lily peeked from the fridge and looked at Elijah, "Good morning".

Lily smiled at Elijah, "Good morning, Elijah".

Stefan looked at Elijah with narrow eyes, he did not like the way he was looking at his best friend.

"Stefan" Lily said, bringing Stefan's attention to her, "We really need to start adding milk to the grocery list, I know none of you drink it but I need it".

"Speaking of, add bleach" Rebekah added as she entered the kitchen, she looked at Stefan, "You, come help me".

"Since when am I your helper?" a confused Stefan asked.

"Since you decided to stay here for free" Rebekah replied, throwing a pair of gloves at Stefan.

"You stayed at my house for free as well" Stefan reminded, as he followed Rebekah out of the kitchen.

"And I helped you, a lot actually" Rebekah said.

"I don't remember even one time that you were helpful" Lily and Elijah heard Stefan say to Rebekah as they walked away.
