04. Girl In New Orleans

"Over the course of my life, I've encountered no shortage of those who would presume to speak of good and evil, such terms mean nothing, people do what is in their best interest, regardless of who gets hurt, is it evil to take what one wants, to satisfy hunger even if doing so will cause another suffering?" Klaus wondered as he stared at one of his paintings, "What some would call evil I believe to be an appropriate response to a harsh and unfair world".

Lily walked behind Klaus, she wrapped her arms around Klaus's torse and placed her chin on his shoulder, "Why are we being so deep today?".

Klaus turned around and faced Lily, "Because you're the only one I can be deep with", Klaus removed a strand of hair from Lily's face and placed it behind her ear, "And you're the only one who has the capacity for understanding my complexity, you see, I returned to New Orleans to investigate a threat posed against you and me, what I found was you, pregnant with our child, in need of protection, my brother, always the doubter, actually thought I wouldn't accept you or our baby".

"Just to make it clear, I didn't doubt you for even a second" Lily said.

A small smile formed on Klaus's face, "I know you didn't, trouble is, I've since learned of another young woman, a girl really, one with vast potential, held in captivity by a tyrant".

"Davina" Lily realised.

"I want to help both of you, protect you and free her" Klaus said, "So tell me little luna, does that sound evil to you?".

Lily looked at Klaus in slight amusement, "Are you talking to me so I can diagnose you psychologically?" she asked, a teasing tone in her voice, "Because if that's the case, you're talking to the wrong person, if you want to be diagnosed you need to talk to a professional".

"I prefer to talk to you, and you didn't answer my question" Klaus pointed out.

"People are going to call me bias for this, considering I'm in love with you and I'm carrying your child" Lily said, "But no, I don't think you're evil Klaus, I just think you're someone who has lived for a very long time, you've lived through things that some people might not have survived, but you did, and because of that you've built a huge wall around yourself, a wall that's not impossible to break, but it is very hard".

"It wasn't hard for you" Klaus said, "You walked into my life like you've always been in it".

"Maybe I was the exception" Lily teased.

"The only exception" Klaus smiled.

Lily smiled back at Klaus, "So I have a question for you".

Klaus nodded his head, "Go on".

"Where does the bartender Cami fit in all this?" a curious Lily asked, knowing both Rebekah and Klaus have been using Cami to distract Marcel.

"Cami is essential for my plans" Klaus revealed, "You see, Marcel wants her, and because of that, he will trust her, which serves me, the thing is the french quarter is on the verge of war, on the one side, there's us, and on the other Marcel along with a very powerful witch and an army of vampires".

"So Marcel has the upper hand" Lily realised.

"For now" Klaus said, "But soon everything will change".
