09. Reigning Pain In New Orleans

Lily sat on the chair next to Klaus's, at the dinner he was hosting for the vampires he had managed to get on his side, or at least he thought were on his side, something about all of this just seemed off to Lily, the vampires who were hell bent on burying Klaus alive, were now on his side, it just didn't make sense, but for now Lily stayed quiet and just observed everyone, if something was wrong, someone will slip somewhere.

"Let us begin with a toast to our shared gift, immortality" Klaus said, addressing all the vampires, "After a thousand years, one might expect for life to bee less keenly felt, for its beauties and its sorrows to diminish with time, but as vampires, we feel more deeply than humans could possibly imagine", Klaus used his two fingers to gesture for the compelled humans to step forward, "Insatiable need, exquisite pain", the humans stood by the vampires side, they rolled their sleeves up and used a knife to make a cut on both their wrists, they then let their blood pour into the vampires glasses, "Our victories", Klaus looked at Marcel, "And our defeats", Klaus lifted his glass up, "To my city, my home again, may the blood never cease to flow".

"And the party never end" Marcel added, lifting his glass up as well, and then glancing at his right hand man, Diego.

"To New Orleans" Diego toasted.

"To New Orleans" Klaus repeated.

"New Orleans!".

"I understand that some of you may have questions regarding the recent change in leadership, and I invited you here tonight to assure you that you are not defeated" Klaus said, "No, my intentions moving forward are to celebrate what we have, what Marcel, in fact, took", Klaus walked over to Marcel, who was sitting across from Lily, and placed a hand on his shoulder, "And built into this, a true community of vampires".

"What about her, the wolf?" Diego asked, pointing his finger towards Lily, making Lily raise her eyebrows at him.

"Had you let me finish Diego, you would know that there is, of course, one further matter I would like to address" Klaus said, walking over to Lily and placing his hand on her shoulder, "As many of you know, my little luna is carrying our child, consequently, I trust you will all pay her the appropriate respect, afterall she is your queen, however I understand that some of you are concerned by this vicious rumor that I intend to use the blood of our child to create hybrids, I assure you, I do not but it does appear that I will have to earn your trust, very well", Klaus removed his hand from Lily and stepped away from her, knowing what he was going to say next will not go well with Lily, "We will eliminate the root of your anxiety, you see, how can I sire any hybrids if there are no more werewolves alive in the bayou to turn?".

Lily looked at Klaus in shock, "I'm sorry, what?! Klaus--".

"So eat, drink, and be merry, and tomorrow I suggest you have yourselves a little wolf hunt" Klaus told the vampires, completely ignoring Lily, "Go ahead, have fun, kill them all".

Marcel looked at Lily who was glaring at Klaus with immense anger in her eyes, he immediately shook his head, Klaus had a really good thing with Lily, but if he continued the way he was going, Marcel had a feeling that good thing would not last long.

"Are you freaking insane?!" a furious Lily yelled, storming into a room with Klaus right behind her, "How could you put out a hit for the werewolves in the bayou?".
