12. Dance Back From The Grave

"Hey Marcel" Diego greeted, as Marcel walked down the stairs with a bottle of bourbon in his hand, "Maybe you know what's going on, Klaus ordered us to meet here, and now he's a no show".

"What do you want from me?" an annoyed Marcel asked, "It's a new regime, get used to it".

Diego shook his head, just as Klaus entered the compound with his arm around a familiar face, "Dearest brethren, your attention, please" he called, gaining the attention of all the vampires present in the compound, "No doubt, you're all surprised to see Thierry Vanchure, who's supposed to be rotting in the garden for the crime of killing one of our own, and I personally decided to issue him with a pardon, I hope you'll all welcome home Thierry, welcome home mate".

An excited Diego went forward and hugged Thierry, while Elijah and Lily stood to the side, looking at the scene infront of them in confusion, "What is he up to?" Lily asked Elijah.

"I was hoping you could tell me" Elijah replied.

Lily shrugged her shoulders, "I have no idea".

"That's concerning" Elijah said, as both him and Lily turned their attention back to Klaus.

"Now, as you all know, the witch Davina is no longer with us" Klaus reminded, "Without Davina, we can no longer monitor that activity of our witch neighbors, however, since their harvest failed, their magic will soon be gone forever, until then, I say we keep them on their toes, Diego, I wonder if you might lead a rousting in the cauldron", Marcel stood from his seat, but Klaus quickly blocked his way before he could walk away, "Marcel, I'd hoped you would join Diego".

"Nah" Marcel said, "I'm gonna take a personal day".

Klaus walked into the living room and saw Marcel sitting on the couch, drinking.

"Ugh, is this what's it come to?" a frustrated Klaus asked, "I bear the full weight of our kingdom while you pout like a child".

"You wanted to be king" Marcel reminded, "Besides, you look like you got it covered".

"If the men see you shirk your duties, they're likely to do the same" Klaus pointed out.

"I told you, I am not in the mood for vampire hijinx" Marcel snapped.

"No, you'd rather sit wallowing in sorrow for your lost little friend" Klaus snapped back.

Marcel stood up from his seat and glared at Klaus, "Don't push me right now" he warned.

"I am sorry Davina is gone, okay?!" Klaus said, "I'm sorry, but this mournful attitude is unworthy of you, and it's boring to me!".

"Hey guys, we got a problem" Diego informed, walking into the room and gaining both Marcel and Klaus's attention.

Diego ended up leading Klaus and Marcel to the cauldron, where they saw two desiccated vampires laying on the ground, surrounded by a circle.

"We came to mess with the witches, just like you said, and these two, they went missing, found them like this, not even staked, just dead" Diego explained.
