I cannot wait for you all to read the twists and turns I have planned with this version of Ella's story. hope you all enjoy it.
Serena's POV
I feel so proud showing Nate and Chuck around the set and letting them in on how I've spent my summer. This is worlds away from my life in the city, and it feels good to know that I can do something impactful. "Here you go, thank you." I pass some items over to another assistant. "And would you mind telling Jane I need to talk to her? I know they're on lunch."
"I don't remember approving a visit for your friends." Marshall comments to me in his usual condescending tone.
"You must be Marshall." Chuck states.
"Who are you?"
"He's Chuck Bass." Nate and I answer together.
"The stuntman's prepped." Ally, the stunt coordinator, interrupts. "Can you uh, ask David to meet me to talk to the double?"
"What's the stunt?" Chuck asks.
"I could show you." Ally offers.
"You know what I have to say." Chuck says to Nate and me.
"Go, heh." I encourage him.
"I have to find David. I'll tell Jane you stopped by, get back to work." Marshall orders me.
"The zip codes may be different, but douchebags are the same no matter where you go." Nate comments. "He's gone. Go find Jane."
"Heh, what are you gonna do?" I ask.
"Hey, S. Is this my noon audition?"
"Yes." I answer without hesitation.
"Wait. Are you kidding me?" Nate asks confused.
"You're gonna be great." I encourage him to take the chances. Now I have to have the same courage as I speak with my boss. I approach Jane as she speaks with a set design assistant.
"Sere, are you looking for Mashall?" Jane asks me.
"No, you actually."
"I hope it's to tell me why you didn't follow up after our first meeting. I didn't scare you away, did I?"
"No. Not at all. I didn't wanna step on Marshall's toes."
"Why not? Keeping him on them is what David hired you to do." Jane tells me. "If it weren't for you, he wouldn't have read the book. It was his comparison of the book to the script that kept all the departments focused."
"I did that the first week. If I had known he was doing it too, I..." I stop myself before I say something that could get Marshall in trouble. "I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble."
"No one's in trouble." Jane assures me. "A little reminder that things don't go unnoticed never hurts. What would you say to a little more responsibility? See how you do with it."
"I'd say, yes."

I feel so proud of myself as I leave my meeting with Jane that I can't wait to tell Nate and Chuck, but of course, Marshall finds me first. "Jane just called. Gave me the rest of the day off. Said I was taking too long to finish her task list, that I should leave it to you." He tells me. "Looks like things do come easy to Serena van der Woodsen, like I heard. But if you think you can do my job better than I can, here's the test." He hands me his tablet."Pull tomorrow's sides, update phone sheet, take dogs to groomer...write coverage of Eugenides. This isn't bad. How long did she give you?" I ask, unsure why he's complaining.
