"I'll be back for you, for both of you, I promise," Gray said bluntly, his face steely as he looked down at Ochaco and Raphtalia, "I would bring you back to life now if I could, but..."

"I know," Ochaco just smiled back softly, "You don't need to worry about that. It'll be a lot safer for us here anyway, and it'll only be a year, right?"

"Yeah! When you see me next, I'll be even stronger than you!" Raphtalia agreed, smirking at Gray as she looked into his eyes, "Just don't forget, alright? The planet overall is pretty nice, but the food he makes is a little..."

"D-Don't smack talk my food, damn it! You try making meals out of thin air!" King Kai huffed, standing nearby as the pile of Earth Dragon Balls sat by his feet, "I've had to eat fake food for millennia, and you don't see me complaining!"

King Kai had been the supplier of food and water on his planet, but the man created it using [Magic Materialization] - a Ki technique despite its misleading name - which meant the food wasn't very tasty nor all that filling. And, for what Gray had planned, he told King Kai to set up a large supply in advance.

"I'll be as quick as I can, and I'll have a feast ready for you both." Gray just chuckled, causing King Kai to huff again, "And, I look forward to seeing how strong you'll get. Let's have a spar when we meet again, alright?"

"Yes!" Raphtalia agreed with a nod, and Gray was silently relieved.

I was worried they might be upset about being left here, but they're taking it well.

Being left behind and remaining dead while the rest of their friends left to complete the mission was pretty scary, but considering that King Kai's planet was pretty nice, safe, and a good opportunity to grow, it seemed that neither Ochaco nor Raphtalia were too caught up about it.

They'll be back in just a year, and they'll be a lot stronger when they are.

The two women would have a year straight of safety and training with a Kai ahead of them, so Gray couldn't be too upset about leaving them. If anything, staying here was better than going to the hellscape that was about to be Monas.

Though they might have to train for a couple of weeks without King Kai first...

But Gray wasn't going to get into that yet.

"Gray, come over here!" King Kai said abruptly, grabbing Gray by his arm and promptly dragging him away from the two women, a strange look on his face.

I feel like I know what's coming.

"W-Where the hell did you get something like that?!" King Kai hissed, whisper-shouting in a hushed tone as he pulled Gray aside, looking at him in shock, "You know what those are, right?!"

"Dragon Balls," Gray nodded easily, "Dragon Balls from Earth. That's how we're getting back to Monas."

"T-This is the method you had planned to get back?! I don't know where you got those, but..." King Kai narrowed his eyes slightly at Gray, "Those things are no joke! They can summon the Eternal Dragon - Shenron! He can grant any wish!"

"Yup, so, I'll wish us back to Monas," Gray replied a bit blandly at King Kai's attitude, "That's the plan. I used another set of Dragon Balls to wish us here to begin with, so I know how they work."
