"Talking"

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Nah, I'm good."

"...W-What?" Tyrab stuttered out, his grin faltering as he looked at Gray.

"As in, I'll pass. I don't wanna take the serum," Gray stated again, watching as Tyrab started to flounder.

"W-What do you mean?! I thought you wanted to take down the demon!" He yelled loudly as he stood from his chair.

"Don't raise your voice, Tyrab!" Tamir scolded, and the elder Yardratian cleared his throat as he sat down again.

"I do," Gray merely nodded, "Which is why I'm not taking some bootleg-ass vial of magic. Why are you so surprised anyway? You're the one who said he 'never wanted to use it!'"

I'm usually the type of guy to say 'fuck it' when things are getting scary, but I have literally no reason to do this. Getting a shit-ton of MP would be nice, but this is fuckin' Nightmare Mode. It won't be that easy.

His LUK was pretty high, but even if he dumped all his remaining points into it, he still wasn't confident about the whole 'one-in-a-million' odds of not dying instantly.

There was also the fact that Gray could tell that Tyrab was exaggerating, either intentionally or not.

If this would make me 'the strongest magic wielder in the universe' then how the fuck did the demons put it in a little vial?

If he did take the serum, and his body survived the injection of extreme magical power, then he definitely would've grown stronger. Probably strong enough to easily handle the demon ruler, but the strongest in the universe?

I'm not going to suddenly become Moro levels of strong from taking this.

Not that he could blame the two Yardratians - they probably thought that their demon invaders were the peak of magical ability. But, considering Gray had easily manhandled three demons with no trouble, even if they were likely just grunts, he was doubtful that the big scary boss was all that big or scary.

"B-But..." Tyrab spit out, the man looking as if his whole world had suddenly been shattered.

I guess he did risk his life to get this.

Luckily, while Gray had no intention of taking the serum right at that moment, it wouldn't go to waste.

"But, I'll still take it," Gray said, explaining more at Tyrab's confused look, "I won't inject it right now, but it can be a last-resort item. If I underestimated the demon ruler, and I really am about to die, then I'll inject it."

Though it's a last resort for a reason. If I can't beat the demon, and I have no chance of escaping, then I'll say fuck it and inject it. Though I doubt it'll ever come down to that.

"...Y-Yes, I supposed that is the best course of action," Tyrab cleared his throat, apparently getting over his abrupt bout of madness and trying to act wise again. Gray reached forward, grabbing the vial from his hand, and then stood from his chair.

"Now, we've been sitting here for long enough. Who's the big guy in this city?" Gray hummed, stretching out his arms, "I'll go kick his ass."

"B-Before you go, you should prepare more! Do not be reckless!" Tamir said loudly, ignoring Gray's question.
