Author POV:
The next morning, Brake is woken up early by the sound of his phone ringing. He groans when he recognizes the caller ID on his cellphone. He taps the green button on the screen, and right away, he can hear his cousins speaking loudly through the phone.
"Can you guys slow down, please?" He asked, after his cousins began to speak clearly and at normal speed, Brake responds to them, "I'll meet you guys there, I'm going there anyway because my father is bringing that woman there and I'm definitely tagging along."
After a few more minutes of talking on the phone, Brake hangs up and gets out of bed to get himself ready to go.
He checks the time and can definitely see that he has enough time to get ready, plus his father is probably not awake at this time.
He goes to his personal bathroom and takes a 20-minute shower, before he leaves the shower with a towel wrapped around his torso. He does his regular morning routine and ends it with blow-drying his hair before styling it and putting on his beanie. "Ah, almost forgot." Brake quickly grabs his cologne and sprays himself a decent amount.
When he's leaving his bedroom, he bumps into the one person he didn't think to see so soon in the morning. "Good morning." He says, and Blossom nods, "Good morning Brake." Brake could see that she was fully ready to go already.
"Are you waiting for my father?" He asked, seeing as his father is still not out of his room yet. "Yes, he said he would be done in a few minutes." She tells him and proceeds to go to the living room to just wait.
Brake follows from behind and offers to keep her company while they wait for his father.
While waiting, Brake feels hesitant to ask her questions. And it seems like Blossom notices it, because she warmly smiles at him, and asks him if there is anything on his mind.
Brake awkwardly laughs, "Well, I was just curious what type of memories or flashbacks you had of my mother during the time you were here."
"Oh, Hmm, most of the memories have been memories of her and your father's relationship, and personal ones of her early years in college. And a few of high school, I think. I'm not too sure; these flashbacks don't give me the dates of the events." Blossom says, scratching the back of her neck.
Before Brake could say another word, Brick came into the living room, holding his car keys in his hands. "Let's get going," He says, and that's when the conversation between Blossom and Brake ends.
When Brick notices Brake getting up and following them, he tells him to halt. "You're not coming," Brick tells him, and Brake looks confused at his father. "Why not?"
"It could be dangerous, and there are still some things we haven't discovered."
Brake grunts and angrily looks at his father, "How can you be like this? I already know about half of what's going on; this is basically nothing." He tells him, and Brick's facial expression changes to a dark look.
Blossom can sense the bad atmosphere right away, and to stop it, she gets in between them. "I think Brake should come, it'll be quick anyway, plus he should know. He seems to be very attentive about his mother's memories." Blossom tells Brick, and Brick shakes his head in annoyance before letting it go and telling Brake only for today, since tomorrow he needs to go back to school.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The car ride felt a little awkward, but thankfully, it wasn't too long, and they got there in just a few minutes.
When Brake and his father and supposedly 'not' mother of his stepped inside the home, they could notice right away that there was already yelling going on inside the Professor's house.
Brick raised his brow before fully entering the house, and seeing how not only were his brother's there, but also the Powerpunk girls and the Rowdyright boys, and his two nephews.
"What's going on?" Brick yelled out, so everyone in the room could hear him. "We have been telling the boys to go home, but they won't listen to us, and now we have found out from the Morning news that apparently 'the girls have returned'. Someone here has revealed the girl's arrival to the public, and paparazzi have been crowding outside our homes. If it weren't for the underground roads we created for emergencies, we would've never gotten here on time. It won't be long til paparazzi will be packed outside the Professor's home as well." Butch tells his older brother.
Burst speaks up in his defense before his Uncle could say anything, "Brake, Brooke, and I already know about the Professor bringing our mothers back, and how all of you have been trying to hide it from us. We basically know enough of what's happening right now; there's no point in trying to keep us out of it. We have the right to be included in this."
Brick furrows his brows and steps forward in front of Burst, "Enough? How do you even know if these women are really your mothers who were brought back?"
Brake takes a deep breath before yelling out to defend his cousin, "We know enough to know that these women aren't our real mothers and are impostors." Brick turns his head to face his own son, but his face doesn't change until Brake finishes, "Dad, we went to visit our grandfather in the underworld yesterday."
Brick's eyes widen, and he looks speechless. Butch is facepalming himself in disbelief, and Boomer looks stressed by this new information.
There's a moment of silence, and Brake is just waiting for his father's outburst, but it never comes.
Instead, he shakes his head and looks down before looking back up at his son with unknown eyes, a look of disappointment rather than anger. Brake is surprised when he feels a sudden pain in his chest. Because the look of disappointment directed at him was not new, but something he was used to by now. Yet he still felt a slight pain of guilt. But why? It wasn't like he did anything wrong; he just wanted answers, they all did.
The sound of the footsteps in the background gets closer til they halt. "Can we go to the lab now?" Dexter asked, looking clearly tired.
"Brick, I think it's time the boys are involved in their mother's disappearance. They aren't five or nine anymore; they're fifteen and should know at least why they aren't here anymore. It isn't fair that they have to hear information about their mothers from other people when they're fathers are right here to tell them themselves." The Professor tells Brick, but looks at each one of his son-in-laws to make sure they all know it involves all of them.
"What did happen to our mothers?"
Boomer looks at all of his brothers for permission and starts, "It was October first, it was only five months since Brooke was born, a villain from another kind of world we have never met before had threatened our world to be destroyed by creating a dangerous portal unless the girls gave up their whole life existence, meaning basically killing them and taking their whole powers to make them even more powerful. The villain gave us a time limit, your mothers didn't hesitate to go through with it, they said they would rather die in peace knowing their kids would have a future than die in pain alongside them with no future." Boomer takes a deep breath.
"For the first time, after falling in love with your mothers, your fathers, and I were all against it and wouldn't allow it. We couldn't bear the thought of losing them, so we tried to find other ways, but by that time, the last option became our first option. And it was to go to the villain's dimension with the machine the Professor created to finish them off, so the portal could close, but the dimension was so rare, and it kept losing its signal; the possibility of going in and never being able to come out because it was a place hard to find was very close. But the chances of the dimension being destroyed along with the villain were even closer. So your mothers made the sacrifice and decided to go together into the dimension to stop it, but we're not so sure what happened, because after they went in, the machine exploded, and there was no trace of your mothers or the other dimension. But the portal was closed, so it was a sign that the villain was destroyed along with the dimension."
"Not Exactly."
