The next morning, Seamus and I met in the library after breakfast as planned. Within two hours, we were able to get all our work done. We departed around noon when I went to the Slytherin common room to go find Maddie before lunch.
"You disgust me," I heard a snotty voice say from behind me. It was pug-face Parkinson.
"Oh and how is that?" I asked.
"First you become friends with Gryffindors, then you start dating one?" She scoffed. "Filthy half-blood."
"What does blood have to do with it?"
"You shouldn't be in Slytherin. Only the real witches and wizards, the pure-bloods, should be in the best house. People who hang out with mud-bloods and blood traitors shouldn't qualify to be in the mighty Salazar Slytherin's house."
"My father happens to be the head of Slytherin house."
"He doesn't deserve that spot after he had you with your muggle mother. Now he must be ashamed even more that the child of him and that muggle doesn't stick with the appropriate pure-blood standards. Even if you are a revolting half-blood."
"Whatever," I spat before turning on my heel and continuing to the common room. Parkinson followed close behind.
"You know I'm not the only Slytherin who hates you." I gave the password and entered, deciding to ignore her.
"Hey babe," Draco exclaimed pulling Parkinson into a hug. I rolled my eyes and went upstairs to find Maddie.
"Ready for lunch?" I asked.
"Sure," she answered while jumping up off her bed. She examined my face closely. "What's wrong?"
A single tear escaped form my eye and I quickly wiped it away. "Nothing, I'm fine," I replied shaking my head.
"OK if you say so." Maddie seemed like she didn't believe me, but she knew I didn't want to talk about it. As we walked through the common room, I guessed that Draco and Parkinson had already gone to the Great Hall. In the Great Hall we sat in our normal spots, but today Parkinson was on Draco's left side.
I finished eating first again today. This gave me time to set my plan in motion. "I'll be back," I told Maddie before heading to the Gryffindor table.
"Hello Kate!" Fred and George greeted.
"Hey guys, have any plans this afternoon? If not, want to hang out?"
"Sure!" George answered almost too quickly. Fred gave him an odd look.
"Um, OK then, great! Meet you in the Gryffindor common room?" They nodded. "OK sounds good I'll see you- oh wait I forgot! Can Maddie hang with us to?" There was a moment of silence and the twins exchanged looks. "Oh come on, she's not like all the stuck up Slytherins."
"In that case, invite her!" Fred told me.
"Yay! I'll see you two later, bye!" Sitting back down across from Maddie, I told her, "We're hanging out with Fred and George Weasley this afternoon." She nearly spit out her pumpkin juice.
"What?!"
"Don't worry, I let them know that you're cool. Unlike most of this house." I received many glares from my comment.
"Hey, I'm cool!" Draco argued.
"I said most of the house isn't. You're in the percent that is cool."
"What about Pansy?"
"Eh," was all I said.
