The week with Mom was great! John had taken care of all the moving work so I could spend time with Mom. We went shopping and watched a ton of movies along with a bunch of other fun stuff. Every night we watched two movies except for on Wednesday when we spent the whole day watching movies in our pajamas and eating nothing but popcorn and candy. That day we had a Disney Princess marathon where we watched all of the princess movies in the order that they came out. Other movies we watched that week were Finding Nemo and Ice Age.
On Saturday night I was in my room getting ready for the movies we planned to watch that night; Mean Girls 1 & 2. Mom came in and told me, "Honey, John just told me our flight for tomorrow has been moved up. Your father will have to get you at eight tomorrow morning."
"Alright, I'll tell him. I'll be out there in a bit." She nodded and left. I took my locket out and looked at it before opening it and holding it out in front of me. In a few seconds, Dad appeared inside it. "Hi Daddy!" I greeted.
"Hi Sweetheart, what is it?"
"Mom's plane is going to be early tomorrow. Can you come get me at eight tomorrow morning?"
"Of course."
"OK, I'll see you tomorrow, love you."
"I love you too, sweetheart, bye." I shut my locket and went downstairs to the living room for the movies.
~~~~~
The doorbell rang. He was here. I quickly slipped on my boots before grabbing my trunk, Claire's empty cage, and my guitar. Claire had gone out last night to hunt for food. I told her to meet me at Dad's house. By the time I got to the top of the stairs, Mom had just closed the door after letting Dad in. I set down my stuff, ran down the stairs, and hugged him. "Daddy!" I cried.
"Hello sweetheart," he said.
I let go and turned to Mom to hug her goodbye. Next I turned to John and gave him a hug also. "You'll visit won't you?" Mom asked.
"When I'm able too, yes," I responded. Dad waved his wand and sent my luggage to our house. I gripped his arm and told Mom and John, "You might want to cover your ears." The two obliged and Dad and I apparated home.
~~~~~
A little over a week later after supper, I was about to leave to go to my room when Dad called me back to the table. "I've been thinking about your career choice, Katie. Are you sure you'd like to be a musician?" He asked. I nodded. "Although I'd much rather have you be my assistant Potions Master at the school, I guess you can be. However I'd like to see you perform. That way I know if this is the right path for you."
"Do you want me to go get my guitar right now?" I asked.
"Yes please, if you would." I hurried to my room. While in there I chose which song to do before gathering all my stuff and going back down to the living room where Dad was waiting.
"Just one song?" He nodded. "OK, well this one is called 'Sparks Fly' and I wrote it not too long ago." I tuned my guitar first before starting.
"The way you move is like a full on rainstorm
And I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless
That should send me runnin'
But I kinda know that I won't get far
And you stood there in front of me
Just close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of
Drop everything now
