As I turned the corner into the hallway where the Fat Lady portrait was located, I stopped. I didn't know the new password. Now what? I continued walking and sat down next to the portrait. I closed my eyes. Within five minutes I heard footsteps. Looking up, I saw that it was Harry, Ron, and Hermione. "Need in?" Harry asked. I smiled and nodded as I stood up. "Who were you looking for?"
"Seamus."
"Well let's see if he's in here. Fortuna Major."
"I can't let her in." The Fat Lady said, gesturing to me.
"Oh come on! I've been in here plenty of times before in years past!" I told her.
"Yeah, Katie's cool. You have to let her in."
"Oh alright I suppose." The Fat Lady finally opened up to let us pass. Looking around the common room, I couldn't seem to find Seamus.
"I'll go look to see if he's in the dorm," Harry said before running up the steps. I took a seat on the couch while I waited. Hermione and Ron took a seat next to me. I nonchalantly slid farther away from Ron. I still hadn't forgotten what he did to me last year. "He's not up there," Harry announced once he got back.
"Okay thanks." I was about to leave when Fred and George came in.
"Hiya Kate!" They greeted me.
"Hey boys."
"What are you doing in here?" George asked. Fred elbowed him.
"Not that you're not welcome here. Sorry for my twin's stupidity and rudeness."
"That's fine. I knew what you meant, George. I was looking for Seamus, but it seems that he isn't here so I was about to leave."
"Your welcome to hang with us if you'd like," Fred invited.
"Sure."
"Follow us," They both said and took off up the stairs. I hurried after them. Once I caught up, I found that I was in their dorm room.
"So what is it that you two do in your spare time besides prank?" I asked, taking a seat next to George on his bed.
"Oh Kate you have much, much to learn." I gave George a weird look. "You see, pranking is about the only thing we do in our free time."
"Oh OK, so I'm guessing that I'm going to help you guys with a prank?"
"Precisely," they replied.
"Who we pranking?"
"Well we were going to prank Malfoy, but you'd probably have our heads if we did that," Fred admitted.
"I'm in."
"What?"
"I said I'm in. He's been an arrogant git lately. He deserves it."
"So you're not his friend anymore?"
"I'm still his friend. It's just that he's been hanging around Parkinson alot today."
"I thought you didn't like when people are called by their last name?" George asked.
"Parkinson is my one exception," I smirked. "What did you have in mind for the prank?"
"We weren't really sure yet. Do you have any ideas?" George replied.
"Yes I do actually. Unfortunately, I don't have any with me at Hogwarts, but I suppose I can ask Father if there is a potion for it. He might think I'm the one who wants to use it, but I'll tell him that I was just curious. I have potions tomorrow afternoon so I'll ask him after class. Or maybe I'll ask if I get done with my work early. I usually do since I'm a natural at po-"
