Easter Sunday dawned sunny and warmer than the past days had been. I woke up and looked over at Draco. He was still sleeping. He looked so peaceful. I carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake him up. Then I went into our bathroom to go take a shower.
Today was going to be a fun day. First we would go out to breakfast at Perkins, and then head to John's brother's farm to celebrate the holiday with a bunch of relatives. It'd be the first time that I've seen any of them since I was five. Some people I might not even remember! Draco will get to meet everyone today. I know he's nervous, but I'm sure everyone will love him.
When I finish with my shower, I wrapped myself in a towel and brushed out my hair before silently sneaking into the bedroom to grab my clothes. After I found what I needed, I started to head back to the bathroom when I heard Draco stirring. "Good morning, love," he spoke, looking me up and down.
"Good morning," I reply, subconsciously pulling my towel up more and holding my clothes to my chest. I was hoping he wouldn't wake up. "I need to, um, finish getting ready. You should get dressed too. We have a busy day today," I told him before hurrying back into the bathroom.
By the time I had finished getting ready, Draco had already gone downstairs. I was just about to turn the corner into the living room when I heard Draco talking to Easton. "Hi Easton," he spoke softly. "You're smiling! See, I'm not so bad. Katie was right, you don't hate me. You know, you're really lucky, Easton. You have a great family, and the best big sister you could ever hope for. She's so loving and caring and I know she'll do anything to protect you. I'll protect you too. I may not be blood-related, but I'd like to be part of your family someday. You see, one day I plan on marrying your sister. Then you and I will be brother-in-laws." I smiled to myself as I slowly slid down the wall to sit on the steps.
"I'm not the best person, Easton, but if you look past the bad like your sister does, I'm not all bad. I know I don't deserve your sister, but for some reason she chose me anyway. I'm so glad she can look past the bad things. I couldn't be without her, because I love her so much." Draco paused and laughed a little. "You know, you're such a good listener, Easton, but you can't understand a word I'm saying."
I decided to get up and enter the room. Quietly, I walked up behind Draco and rested my chin on his shoulder. "He's so adorable," I whispered, looking down at Easton in Draco's arms.
Footsteps echoed as my mother came into the room. "It's time for Easton to eat," she informed us, holding up a bottle.
"Oh can I feed him?" I asked.
"Of course!" I took Easton from Draco and Mom handed me the bottle and left the room again. As he ate, I walked around the room. When I looked up, Draco was watching me, smiling.
"What?"
Draco shook his head. "Nothing." I gave him a confused look before turning back to Easton.

"Rock me momma like a south bound train. Hey momma rock me." Everyone cheered as the final chord of the song rang out. Somehow it had been brought up that I knew how to sing and play guitar and my relatives - er, step relatives- wanted to hear me play. The holiday was going great. I had been able to get reacquainted with everyone and was able to introduce Draco to everyone. They all liked him just as much as I thought they would. As the applause died down, my eyes swept the room to find Draco. He was standing in the corner, smiling as he watched me.
"Draco, come here! Let's do one together," I suggested.
He laughed and put his hands up. "Oh no thank you! I don't sing."
"You got second place in that singing competition we did in our second year at the Christmas party! You're good. Come on, please," I pleaded, putting on a pouting face.
Draco sighed and walked over to stand next to me. "I don't know any songs though."
"You know that Lady Antebellum song I showed you the other day pretty well!" He thought it over agreeing to sing the song. I smiled as I began strumming the intro. When it was time for him to start singing, I nodded my head to cue him. He opened his mouth and closed it again. "I'm sorry. I can't do it. Not in front of everyone," he claimed.
"Just look at me, forget everyone else," I whispered before starting the intro again. This time he started singing when I cued him.
"Tell me have you ever wanted someone so much it hurts? Your lips keep trying to speak, but you just can't find the words. Well I had this dream once; I held it in my head," Draco sang, a little shaky.
I smiled as I joined in, "She was the purest beauty, but not the common kind. She had a way about her that made you feel alive. And for a moment we made the world stand still. Yeah, we owned the night. You had me dim the lights; you danced just like a child. The wine spilled on your dress and all you did was smile. Yeah, it was perfect. I hold it in my mind. Yeah, we owned the night."
People cheered as I went into the guitar solo before Draco began the bridge. "When the summer rolls around, and the sun starts sinking down, I still remember you."
"Oh I remember you," I harmonized.
"And I wonder where you are. Are you looking at those same stars again?"
"Do you remember when? We woke under a blanket all tangled up in skin. Not knowing in that moment we'd never speak again, but it was perfect; I never will forget. When we owned the night. Yeah, we owned the night. Ooooh. Oooooh. Oooooh. Oooooh."
The sound of clapping and cheering broke us from our trance the song had put us in. "Woohoo! Encore!" Mom shouted.
I laughed as I looked over at Draco, raising an eyebrow to ask, "Should we?" He stepped closer and whispered a song in my ear. Since he doesn't know many muggle songs besides what I've showed him, he suggested one I had introduced him to not that long ago. The room quieted back down as I began the intro on the guitar.
"Sometimes it feels like, I'm gonna break. Sometimes this world gives more than I can take. Sometimes, sunshine gets lost in the rain and it keeps pouring down. It just keeps coming down."
Draco joined in on the chorus, "This life would kill me if I didn't have you. I couldn't live without you baby, I wouldn't want to. If you didn't love me so much, I'd never make it through. 'Cause this life would kill me, this life would kill me if I didn't have you."
We continued through the entire song without ever taking our eyes away from each other. After the song was over, I hurriedly put the guitar in its stand and closed the gap between us, embracing him as tightly as I possibly could. "I love you so much," I whispered into his shoulder.
"I love you more," Draco whispered back.
