Maddie's POV
Fred and I were cuddling together in the Gryffindor Common Room a week after the incident with Blaise. Fred was going on about him and George's plans for Weasley Wizard Wheezes. "Trust me, Maddie, the first chance we have to ditch this place, we'll take. Then we'll open up in Diagon Alley and we'll be big."
"Why do you want to go so soon?" I asked.
"I've told you, there's no need for me here anymore."
"I need you," I replied quietly.
"You listen to me right now," He told me seriously. "We can make this work. We can write to each other all the time and you can visit during holidays."
"What if something happens to you? We both know there is bound to be another war starting." My eyes were watering now.
"If I die," Fred began. I let out a whimper and looked down. He lifted my chin up. "You need to get over me. I don't want you depressed the rest of your life without me. Find another man to love who treats you as good as I do, if not better."
My breathing was shaky. "I love you, Fred."
He wiped a tear that slipped down my cheek away. "I love you too." We leaned in and kissed with so much passion that had built up from the conversation we just had. Fred licked my bottom lip, asking permission to enter and I granted it. Tears mixed with the taste of each other's tongues as we continued snogging. I ran my fingers through his ginger hair as he pulled me onto his lap, but not breaking the kiss.
"MERLIN, MY EYES! BLOODY HELL MY PRECIOUS EYES!"
Fred and I jumped about five feet apart and Fred fell off the couch.
"Couldn't you guys do that some place more private and not in the COMMON room?" George scolded. "Damn that's gross."
Fred got up off the floor. "No need to scream, mate," He told George, rubbing his head.
"Sorry, I didn't mean for you to fall. Anyways we need to get going or we'll be late."
"Oh Merlin I forgot that's tonight." Fred took out a galleon and looked at it. That was strange and random. "I'll see you tomorrow, love." He pecked me on the lips while George made gagging noises before I headed to my own common room.
When I got there, I saw Blaise alone on the couch and I continued to my room. As my door was closing, an arm grabbed it and pushed it back open. "Can I talk to you?" Blaise asked. I nodded. "I-Did you straighten your hair?" I nodded. "It looks great." I blushed. "Anyways, I'm sorry. I was way out of line last week. But can you honestly look me in the eyes and tell me you feel nothing between us?"
I looked him in the eye and said, "I feel---something," before looking down at the floor. "But it's nothing in comparison to what I feel with Fred." He stayed silent. "Can we just go back to how we were before? Just best friends before feelings got involved?"
"I think that'd be best," he sighed. I stepped forward and hugged him. "Would it hurt if we kissed just one more time?" He asked softly.
I sighed. "Blaise,"
"What is one more kiss? Weasley won't find out."
I made sure to close the door before standing on my tippy toes and gingerly kissing him. There was a small stirring in my chest, but it was so small compared to when I kiss Fred.
I stepped back and opened the door. Looking both ways, the hall was clear and I led Blaise downstairs to the couch. "So where are Katie and Draco?"
He shrugged. "Draco has Inquisitorial Squad duties, but I don't know where Katie is." Hmmm.
"I guess we can just wait for them to come back."
