Time may sit still itself within the Labyrinth of Time, but it does not stop the aging process of mortals. Sammi has spent the last four years down here, desperately searching for the silver tiara that once belonged to Lady Bless. Bahemyth told her no matter how she takes, only a few seconds will have passed outside the Labyrinth of Time. The fact that her body has aged four years leaves her questioning if time really has stood still outside this realm. This labyrinth goes on and on with no sign of this tiara.
Sammi passes by a reflective pool of water. She looks into it to see herself. Her face seems so much different to her now. A face that resembles that of her mother's is looking back at her. Twenty years of age and she looks so much like the woman she has only seen pictures of. Trying not to think about that anymore she presses deeper into the Labyrinth of Time.
"You aren't getting discouraged are you child?" Bahemyth's voice echoes all around.
"Not at all.... well sort of," Sammi replied.
"You'll find it."
Sammi decides that standing around, talking, won't get her any closer to her goal. Her Fire Magic has grown in strength here. Monsters of all shapes and sizes live within this realm. They seem to only be here to slow her progress. She knows it's more than that though. The point of this to prove her worth to Father Time. This power she would obtain would help her see her brother again. She is already much stronger than she was before she entered. Mastering Fire Magic had come to her along the way. Memories of watching Drayk practice his magic helped her utilize the power she had within her.
A roar calls out from up ahead. This roar sounded familiar to Sammi, realizing she was about to fight the same monster yet again. It has given her nothing but trouble since she arrived. Up ahead, a shadow appears on the wall. The outline of a beast she had only read about until recently. The mythical chimera. A beast with the head and torso of a lion, the bottom half of a horse, a tail which was the head of a mighty serpent and wings of a bat on its back. A creature that is from the imagination of Hell. It can breath fire, make earthquakes and destroys everything in its path. The chimera was banished to this realm by Lady Parocaav thousands of years ago and it has become quite the pet to Bahemyth.
"Chimera! We meet again!" Sammi yells.
The chimera shows itself to her from the shadows. Its eyes glowing bright red and blood dripping from its mouth. The serpent head hisses at the sight of the Fire Mage. The beast lets out a roar that shakes the labyrinth. Sammi knows she can't hold back. The last few encounters have ended in her barely escaping with her life. It's been months since the last time she has layed her eyes on this monster. Her magic had grown a great deal since then.
Sammi spins her right arm out front of her. Fire spirals, following the path of her hand. The flames shoot towards the chimera, still in a spiral motion. The beast opens its mouth and shoots green fire through it. The fires explode on impact with one another, sending a shockwave through the corridors. This beast will not win this time Sammi tells herself. She raises both arms from her side's upward. As she does, molten rock shoots up from under the chimera's feet.
The chimera flies up into the air with one flap of its giant wings. Sammi shoots beams of fire up at it with a determined look on her face. The beast swiftly dodges the fire and lets out another ear shattering roar. It uses its wings to create a strong blast of wind, pushing Sammi to the ground. The creature swoops down at her and strikes the ground, just inches away from her. The ground tears open in a quake. Sammi grabs a hold of the lion's mane as it takes off back into the air.
The serpent snaps it jaw at Sammi, trying to get her to let go. She kicks the serpent in the face when it gets too close to her. Still rising up, the Labyrinth of Time begins to look smaller and smaller. A bright silver reflects off an object a few hundred yards away. It must be the tiara. Sammi ignites her hands, which burn at the mane. The lion's head roar out in pain and Sammi lets go. She shoots fire from her palms at the chimera, catching its fur on fire. The force of the flame pushes her in the direction of the glistening object below.
The chimera spins around in the air with extreme speed, extinguishing the flames. It growls and pursues the Fire Mage. Just before Sammi reaches the ground, the chimera snatches her up with its paws. It throws her into the air and shoots green fire at her from both the lion's head and the serpent's. She curls into a ball and a veil made of fire encloses around her. The green fire pushes the fire ball up against the ceiling of the massive labyrinth. Pieces of rock fall down as the ceiling crumbles away where she hit it. A large piece crashes onto the chimera, pushing it towards the ground.
With a mighty crunch, the chimera bites the piece of ceiling and it shatters. Flapping its wings, it regains its altitude. The beast snarls while looking around for the mage. A fireball strikes it right in the middle of its back. Sammi drops down from no where and lands on the beast. She jams a piece of sharp rock into the chimera's right wing. Tearing a huge hole in its wing it roars again. The serpent sinks its fangs into Sammi's leg and throws her off its back. The chimera finds itself unable to fly with the wounded wing and it plummets down along with Sammi.
They both crash into the ground below, separated by a wall to the labyrinth. Wiping blood from her leg, she cries out in pain. Her head spinning and her vision beginning to blur. The venom of the chimera was coursing through her body. Sammi stands to feet and wobbles like a child learning to walk. Stumbling into the wall, she falls down to her knees. Her hands ignite in a flame and she seers the bite would closed. The chimera bursts through the wall between them.
"You bastard!" Sammi roars at the beast.
She gets back up onto her feet, ignoring the way her body is feeling. Sammi catches some of the blood dripping from the beast's wing and drinks it. She had once read the only anti-venom to the beast's toxin was its own blood. The flavor is bitter and sour, but she can feel it starting to work immediately. The lightheadedness fades away and she gains back her balance. It's times like this she wishes she carried a sword like her brother. Smacking her with its wing, Sammi is thrown back several feet up against a wall. The wind gets knocked out of her as she lands back on her feet. As she gasps for air, she throws fireballs at the beast.
The chimera spins its body around and the serpent swallows the fireballs being thrown at it. It hisses as the chimera turns back to allow the lion's head to see the mage once again. The beast looks around for her, but it cannot locate her. The serpent looks straight up and sees her above it. In her hands raised above her head is a fireball bigger than the chimera.
"This ends now!" Sammi screams down at the chimera.
She throws the giant fireball down towards the beast. It grows in size until it reaches the chimera. The heat of the fire intensifies at the touch of the chimera's flesh. The beast cries out in pain as it cooked alive by the fire. Just as the fireball touches the ground, it explodes. Pieces of the chimera fly all over the labyrinth walls and floor, some even hitting the ceiling. Sammi drops back down, panting, bloody and bruised. She had finally done it. The mythical chimera had been destroyed.
A flash if silver light catches her memories as she dashes toward where she had seen the glistening. There was no time to relax or celebrate her victory. She just wanted to get the rest of her stay over with. She turns one last corner and sees a silver tiara held up on a pedestal. The tiara of Lady Bless was hers at last.
Outside the Labyrinth of Time~
Kraag is mumbling to himself. The door to the shack swings open almost as soon as it had closed. A young woman that looks like Sammi emerges from inside. Her robes covered in blood and filth. A silver tiara was worn in her long blonde hair.
"Sammi?" Kraag wonders out loud.
"It's me," Sammi smiles, "I got what I came here for."
