Patrick - Why can't we just be friends?

You and Patrick have been dating for roughly 2 months. 

For the past week, you seem to notice Patrick has been acting weird.

"Patrick, what's up with you?" You ask. 

"Glad you asked," Patrick said. "I've got something to tell you."

"What?" You say. 

"I've been dating someone else," Patrick admits, and you feel like you've been stabbed in the heart.

You choke out a sentence. "H-how long?"

"4 months," Patrick says. 

"Really?" You ask.

"Did I stutter?" Patrick jokes. "Listen (Y/N), I know you really like me. but, I was only dating you out of pity."

(I bet you're dead now.)

You stare wide-eyed at Patrick. 

"Why can't we just be friends?" 

That's the last thing Patrick says to you as he leaves. 

You don't hear from Patrick for a long time. You read the magazines, and stalk his Twitter, and see Patrick is happily married, and has forgotten about you.

You are walking on the street and see Patrick and his new wife, having lunch. 

Shocked, you just stare at them.

You know not to go over there. You know you shouldn't spoil his lunch with your presence. You continue walking.

But, a few minutes later, someone taps your shoulder. "(Y/N)?" 

You turn around and see Patrick. 

"Hey!" Patrick says, excitedly. 

You give him a blank expression. 

You spit out a sentence that changes your feeling entirely about Patrick. 

"Why can't we not be friend, ever?"
