AUTHOR POV

It was well past midnight.
The mansion was silent, wrapped in a calm so deep it almost felt unreal.
But Veer’s phone buzzed sharply on the nightstand, slicing through the quiet.

Veer instantly opened his eyes.

He reached for the phone, answering in a low, alert voice, “Pronto?”
His tone was sharp, switched to full attention within seconds.

For a moment, the other side stayed completely silent.
Veer’s brows furrowed. He didn’t speak again — he knew better.

Then a voice finally came, cold and mocking:

Enjoy your happy little time… something is waiting for you.”

The call disconnected immediately.

Veer stared at the screen, jaw tightening.
He didn’t need a name.
He knew exactly who it was.

He placed the phone aside and looked to his right —
Sanjana was sleeping peacefully, her breaths soft and steady, her features calm.
Seeing her like that tugged at something inside him, something protective and fierce.

Quietly, Veer slipped out of the bed.

He left the room without making a sound, walking through the dimly lit corridor.
The mansion at night carried a different aura — cold, watchful, almost haunted.

His steps eventually led him to the east block.

His gaze fell on that door.

For a few seconds, he stood there, considering whether to go inside.
But after a long moment of silent weighing, he exhaled slowly and turned away.

Instead, Veer walked downstairs to the living room.

He sat on the edge of the sofa, elbows resting on his knees, fingers interlaced.

The voice from the call echoed in his mind.
The threat was not new — but this time, Sanjana, Nishant, and Chavi were all here.

And the danger felt closer.

Much closer.

Under the soft glow of the chandelier, Veer leaned back, staring at the ceiling, his mind racing.

Something was coming.

And he needed to be ready.

*****
It was morning.
The soft glow of sunlight filtered through the curtains, falling gently across Sanjana’s face. She blinked awake, her lashes fluttering as she adjusted to the warmth.
