Kendra and I had to go to church with my grandparents; like every other weekend.

I don't normally go to church on my own but it's nice when I do.

I was wearing a blue sundress, white flats, and my hair was straightened. Kendra had on a bright pink top, some blue jeans, and her hair was curled.

I walked down the patio from the driveway and towards the stairs, following my grandparents.

"Madilyn!" I looked down towards the beach and saw David. He was waving his hands like a maniac and I laughed. My grandparents and Kendra stopped at the top of the stairs, staring between me and David.

He ran towards me, out of breath and super sweaty. Gross.

"Hot." Kendra muttered. I snorted and rolled my eyes.

"Was there something you needed?" I asked, smiling.

"Are you coming down to the beach soon?" He was still out of breath. Poor guy.

"Yeah we were about to, why?"

"Would you two be up for some volleyball?" A mischievous look passed his features and I smirked, looking at Kendra. She was on the volley ball team at school and she was probably the best I've ever seen. I nodded at him.

"Sure."

Someone cleared their throat and I looked up to see my grandparents, and Kendra giving me a look, as if saying "who is this and why is he here?"

"Guys, this is David. David, this is my family and best friend." I gestured between them and he smiled, waving up at them.

He sent me one last smile and a wink before running back to the beach, yelling that he'd see me soon.

He's definitely in for a surprise.

Kendra and I slipped on our swimsuits, a pair of shorts, and left to play volleyball.

When we got to the beach David was talking to a guy that looked a lot like him.

He smiled when he saw us and the guy next to him started checking out Kendra, very openly.

Kendra smirked at him but stayed quiet.

"Hey." He said. "This is Danny, my brother, Danny this is Madilyn and..." He looked at Kendra.

"Kendra." She said, holding her hand out to Danny. "Nice to meet you." Danny shook her hand and they started talking.

"So you think you two can beat me?" David asked, a smirk plastered on his beautiful face.

"I know I can beat you." I stated. His smirk grew.

"I'll make you a deal. If you win, you get whatever you want and if I win..." He trailed off, pretending to think. "I get whatever I want." I rose an eyebrow at him. I knew he wasn't the kind of guy who would ask me to sleep with him so I nodded, shaking his outstretched hand.

"I got it!" Kendra yelled, diving for the ball like a pro. I smirked at David as she made a perfect spike. He narrowed his eyes at me.

David hit the ball to me, and me being my uncoordinated self I tripped. Thank god for Kendra.

I brushed the sand off of me and we started the game back up again.

Kendra spiked the ball onto the guys side many times, and I tripped, many times.

By the end of the game we had won by 7 points and the guys looked so confused.

"How did you-" Danny started and Kendra cut him off.

"I'm the best volleyball player in our whole town." She smiled proudly and walked over to talk to Danny.

"You alright? You took a lot of falls out there." David said, holding back a laugh and walking towards me. I rolled my eyes.

"I'm the most clumsy person in our whole town." He rose an eyebrow at me and I shrugged, walking towards the water to get some sand off my hands.

"You wanna go to a party?" Now it was my turn to raise an eyebrow. He laughed. "It's not that kind of party; well it kind of is, but I'm not expecting you to drink or anything." He scratched the back of his neck nervously and gulped. Awe.

I smiled at him.

"Of course I'll go. Kendra can come to right?"

He looked back at my best friend; who was shamelessly flirting with Danny.

"I don't think we'll be able to keep them from each other, so sure." He laughed and I smiled at him. The way he laughed made my heart flutter.

Oh god, stop it, Madi.

"I'll meet you here at eight, sound good?" I nodded at him. He smiled, kissed my cheek, and ran to get Danny.

I stood staring after him with my toes in the water and my cheeks burning.

"See you at eight." I whispered.
